	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/05/2019 answer text <p>The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and NHS England are leading the dialogue with Vertex Pharmaceuticals on access to their portfolio of cystic fibrosis medicines, including Orkambi and Symkevi.</p><p>NHS England has proposed an offer that would represent the largest ever commitment of its kind in the history of the National Health Service - in the region of £500 million over five years - and would provide immediate access for patients to all Vertex licensed medicines in advance of assessment by NICE. The Government fully supports the approach that NICE and NHS England are adopting. It is crucial that patients have access to the most effective and innovative medicines at a price that represents value to the NHS.</p><p>My Rt. hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care held a meeting on 11 March with all the parties to discuss how best to reach a deal so that people with cystic fibrosis and their families can benefit as soon as possible. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/05/2019 answer text <p>Prevention is a key focus of the NHS Long Term Plan, which sets out plans to tackle risk factors for cancer such as obesity, alcohol consumption and smoking. This will have a significant impact on improving health, including for those who are at risk of developing ovarian cancer. Over the next 10 years the National Health Service will extend the use of molecular diagnostic testing and routine offering genomic testing to all patients with cancer for whom it would be of clinical benefit.</p><p>From 2019 we will start the roll-out of new Rapid Diagnostic Centres across the country to upgrade and bring together the latest diagnostic equipment and expertise, building on 10 models piloted with Cancer Research UK, which have focused on diagnosing cancers where patients often present with non-specific symptoms, often the case with ovarian cancer, and may go to their general practitioner many times before being sent for tests, such as blood and stomach cancers.</p> answering member constituency South Ribble answering member printed Seema Kennedy question first answered 13/05/2019 15:44:05 answering member 4455 label Biography information for Seema Kennedy

	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/04/2019 answer text <p>The time between booking an appointment with a general practice and having the appointment (in days) for the practices where data is currently collected in Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group is presented in the following table for the last available published date, February 2019. A 12- month average from March 2018-February 2019 has also been presented along with a comparison to the average across all appointments in England. NHS Digital’s ‘Appointments in General Practice’ data is published monthly with a two-month time lag.</p><p>The appointments data does not differentiate between emergency and routine appointments in general practice and the ‘time from booking to appointment’ does not take into consideration that many patients will be appropriately booking ahead as part of the continuity of care they receive for long-term conditions.</p><p>The data on general practitioner (GP) appointments are from a new data collection and are still experimental therefore the data and collection method are still being refined and improved. Whilst these early datasets published by NHS Digital do not yet represent a comprehensive picture, they are an important key step in understanding pressures on primary care. The NIHR welcomes funding applications for research into any aspect of human health, including Lyme disease. These applications are subject to peer review and judged in open competition, with awards being made on the basis of the importance of the topic to patients and health and care services, value for money and scientific quality. In all disease areas, the amount of NIHR funding depends on the volume and quality of scientific activity.</p><p> </p><p>The NIHR currently has no current applications for research on Lyme disease. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/02/2019 answer text <p>Lipoedema is a long-term (chronic) condition typically involving an abnormal build-up of fat cells in the legs, thighs and buttocks. The condition occurs almost exclusively in women, although there have been rare cases reported in men. Some estimates suggest that up to 11% of the female population may be affected.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>To support clinicians in identifying and treating lipoedema, in May 2014, the Royal College of General Practitioners worked in partnership with the charity Lipoedema UK to develop and publish an e-learning module for general practitioners on the diagnosis and management of lipoedema. The module was endorsed by the Royal College of Nursing.</p><p> </p><p>In May 2017, Wounds UK, an organisation that provides guidance, education and training in wound and skin management, published best practice guidance on diagnosing and treating lipoedema.
