answer text <p /> <p>Since the landmark £20 million Post Office Community Fund started accepting applications in June 2014 more than 340 Community post offices have applied for funding. More than 250 of these proposals have been approved to date and of these more than 85 have been completed, bringing significant benefits to communities, customers and subpostmasters across the UK. The fund remains open for applications and the Government encourages eligible branches to apply for investment.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The government has announced a number of policy measures to support tourism in the South West region including;</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>On 26 January during a visit to Plymouth the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced a £10 million package for the South West from round 3 of the Coastal Communities Fund to support regional growth including the tourism sector. He also announced a £2 million challenge fund as part of the GREAT Britain campaign to promote regions and cities including in the South West; and £100,000 government funding to support more Small and Medium sized Enterprises to attend a trade fair to promote South West tourism destinations to key international markets.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>On 20 February in Bristol the Chief Secretary to the Treasury announced £5 million funding towards the transformation of Colston Hall in Bristol into the only international standard concert hall in South West.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>On 5 March the Deputy Prime Minister announced £5 million funding to boost tourism in the South West by creating a joined-up strategy for marketing the region.</p><p> </p>

answer text <p>The Government announced in December 2014 that we are allocating just under £6 billion for councils in England for local highways maintenance over the next six years for all local roads, including rural. This is in addition to the £4.7 billion we have provided to councils since 2010.</p><p> </p><p>The Department is providing Devon County Council with over £220 million from 2015/16 to 2020/21 based on a needs formula for maintaining the roads for which they are responsible, including rural roads in Torridge and West Devon. It is entirely for the Council to decide on how this funding is allocated locally based on sound asset management principles.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>The agreement announced on 18 December 2014 will improve coverage throughout the UK, and we expect coverage across Devon to improve dramatically. Under the agreement each mobile network operator (MNO) will provide voice and text coverage to at least 90% of the UK landmass by 2017, and we understand that data coverage will improve in many areas. This will lock in £5bn of investment in UK mobile infrastructure, halving partial not-spots and cutting complete not-spots by two-thirds. The MNOs have now made the agreed coverage obligations legally binding, by requesting that Ofcom vary their spectrum licences on a voluntary basis.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government has commissioned an Independent Review, led by Peter Bonfield, to look at Consumer Advice, Protection, Standards and Enforcement for energy efficiency and renewable energy. The scope of the Review will cover the performance of the cavity wall insulation industry and the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency (CIGA).</p><p> </p><p>DECC officials have met several times with representatives from CIGA to discuss issues relating to cavity wall insulation. These actions include CIGA publishing their first ever annual report, improving their consumer handling processes and publishing a league table of installer performances in regards to dealing with consumer complaints.</p><p> </p><p>CIGA have also appointed a Consumer Champion with the remit to act as a focal point for consumer organisations and deal with consumer complaints. The Consumer Champion is currently conducting a review to gather stakeholder’s view of CIGA’s complaint handling processes.</p><p> </p><p>The Bonfield Review team will work closely with the CIGA Consumer Champion over the period of the Review.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>

answer text <p>We are absolutely committed to ensuring that the South West has the best infrastructure possible and we are determined to do everything possible to stop damage like we saw in 2014 happening again. That is why we have invested £31 million into improving the resilience of rail routes in the South West, and Network Rail spent £40 million on repairing and strengthening the line at Dawlish after the extreme weather.</p><br /><p>We are working with the rail industry and the Peninsula Rail Task Force as they explore the potential for longer-term improvements in the area, including the premise of additional routes to the current mainline route via Dawlish.</p><br /> more like this
