	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/10/2019 answer text <p>The Government takes the issue of police wellbeing, including mental health, very seriously and has invested in programmes which offer help directly to officers and staff.</p><p>In July 2017 the Home Office awarded £7.5 million from the Police Transformation Fund to the College of Policing to pilot and fund a National Police Wellbeing Service (NPWS). The NPWS was launched in April 2019 and has developed evidence-based guidance, advice, tools and resources which can be accessed by forces, as well as individual officers and staff. These include resources to help forces better support officers and staff who are experiencing mental health problems.</p><p>We have also set out a vision for a new Police Covenant, recognising the bravery and commitment of officers who work night and day to keep us safe. We plan to focus on physical protection for officers, their health and wellbeing and support for their families.</p><p>The Home Office does not centrally hold information on the number of police officers taking their own lives.</p><p>The Office for National Statistics publish data on suicide by occupation in England. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/03/2020 answer text <p>We recognise that local authorities undertake incredibly valuable work in looking after vulnerable young asylum seekers and the Home Office is committed to supporting this.</p><p>The Home Office provides funding to local authorities as a contribution to the costs they incur when supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC), which is in addition to the money provided through the local government finance settlement.</p><p>In May 2019, we announced a significant increase in the funding: from 1 April 2019, local authorities now receive £114 per UASC per night for each UASC in their care, regardless of their age or when they entered the UK. This represented a 61% increase to the lowest rate that was previously paid. As well as providing a greater contribution to local authorities support costs, these changes addressed feedback that the existing rate structure was overly complex.</p><p>Further consideration is being given to funding rates for local authorities supporting UASC and former UASC care leavers following the recent Spending Round. This offer also applies to their families. We are taking a compassionate and pragmatic approach to an unprecedented situation.</p><p> </p><p>The Coronavirus job retention scheme, self-employment income support and statutory sick pay are not classed as public funds for immigration purposes. Contribution-based benefits are also not classed as public funds for immigration purposes. Additionally, measures we have brought forward such as rent and mortgage protections are not considered public funds and can be accessed by migrants with leave to remain.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the Government has made in excess of £3.2bn of funding available to local authorities in England to assist them in managing the pressures arising out of the pandemic.</p><p> </p><p>People granted leave under the family and human rights routes can apply to have a condition lifted or for access to benefits if their financial circumstances change. Additionally, the Home Office has confirmed in light of the pandemic, anyone who would normally cease to be eligible for accommodation because their asylum claim, and any appeal, has been resolved, is being allowed to remain in their current accommodation for at least three months. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/05/2020 answer text <p>We only detain people where it is absolutely necessary, with decisions made on a case-by-case basis and kept under constant review but it is only right that we protect the public from high-harm individuals, which is why the vast majority of those in detention are foreign national offenders.</p><p>The health of those in immigration removal centres is of the utmost importance and Immigration Enforcement are following the latest guidance from Public Health England. Measures such as protective isolation will be considered on a case by case basis to minimise the risk of COVID-19 spreading to vulnerable groups in the immigration detention estate.
