Our new data protection legislation is going to make our laws fit for the digital age in which an ever increasing amount of data is being processed. Organisations will need to be clearer with people how their data will be used and ensure that any consent obtained is clear, unambiguous and purposeful. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/04/2018 answer text <p>The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is responsible for regulating compliance with data protection legislation.</p><p> </p><p>There are a number of tools available to the ICO to ensure compliance. These include criminal prosecution, non-criminal enforcement and audit. The Information Commissioner also has the power to serve a monetary penalty notice on a data controller. Friend the Secretary of State to ‘secure that, so far as it is economical to meet them, all reasonable demands in Great Britain for gas conveyed through pipes’.
