star this property answer text <p>The Commission is led by the current Government advice on the use of face masks and coverings.</p><p>Advice from Public Health England has been considered which states that face coverings may be beneficial in places where it is hard to follow and maintain social distancing measures e.g. on public transport. Face coverings are not a replacement for social distancing and regular handwashing which remain the most important actions. As hon. Members can maintain social distancing and have easy access to handwashing facilities or hand sanitiser, it was concluded that face coverings were not necessary.</p><p>A review of this decision was carried out on 3 June and concluded that the advice did not need to be updated in line with current government guidance.</p><p>Although not considered necessary it is an MP’s choice if they do want to wear a face covering on the Parliamentary estate.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The House authorities on behalf of the Commission has carried out all risk assessments as required under the <em>Working safely during coronavirus (Covid-19) </em>guidance. This identifies the key risks and control measures which have been introduced to allow people to work safely on the parliamentary estate during the Coronavirus outbreak.</p><p>Through the development of cleaning, handwashing and hygiene procedures the risk from touching any surface should be minimised and measures have been put in place to ensure hand washing facilities and / or hand sanitiser is available across the estate. These have also been placed at both entry points to the chamber.</p><p>Enhanced cleaning of the despatch box has continued at all times the House sits to further minimise any potential risk.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Immigration Skills Charge (ISC), introduced on 6 April, is a charge paid by UK-based employers sponsoring non-EEA nationals under Tier 2, our main immigration work route.</p><p>The ISC is designed to incentivise employers to invest in training and upskilling the resident workforce. Income raised by the Charge will be used to address skills gaps in the UK workforce - which will be of benefit to businesses in the long term.</p><p>There is a flat rate of £1,000 per Tier 2 migrant sponsored per year but small or charitable sponsors already have a reduced rate of £364 per migrant per year.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Home Office has commenced a review of the regulation of air weapons in England and Wales, and we have asked for the views of interested parties on this. We have also asked that anybody who wishes to share their views on this issue with us do so by 6 February 2018.</p><p>The review will take account of the arrangements in Scotland and Northern Ireland where air weapons are subject to a licensing regime. We will therefore be seeking the views of both Police Scotland and the Police Service of Northern Ireland. We have not sought the views of the Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or animal welfare officers in local councils in Northern Ireland, although it is open to them to write to us about this review.</p> more like this
