	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/03/2018 answer text <p><strong> </strong></p><p>Any claimant who is required to attend an Employment and Support Allowance or Personal Independent Payment assessment will be reimbursed for any reasonable travel costs associated with attending the assessment. The Department and its assessment providers do not pay travel costs in advance and we have no plans to change the current policy which is consistent with other areas of Government such as the NHS Healthcare Travel Costs Scheme.</p><p> </p><p>All claimants who are required to attend an assessment are advised in their appointment letter to contact the relevant provider if they have any difficulty in attending the assessment. Where such situations arise, the Department expects the assessment providers to explore all possible options to ensure that an assessment can be conducted. Supporting older people to remain in the labour market, and tackling the barriers to them doing so, remains a key priority for Government. In addition to legislative reforms to abolish the default retirement age and extend the right to request flexible working to all employees, we also published a new strategy ‘Fuller Working Lives: A Partnership Approach’ on 2<sup>nd</sup> February. The Strategy is crucially led by employers, but also sets out the case for action by individuals, and the role of Government in supporting them in planning their careers and their approach to retirement. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/03/2017 answer text <p>Health assessments take into account the fact that most health conditions fluctuate and as such, will not focus on an individual’s ‘best day’, or take a ‘snapshot’ of their condition on the day of their assessment.</p><p>Health Professionals receive comprehensive training in disability analysis which includes a functional evaluation as to how medical conditions and the long-term medical treatment of those conditions affect an individual.
