This data will be hosted by the Centre for Fisheries, Environment and Aquaculture Science using Microsoft Azure. star this property answer text <p>The catch recording service was developed using input from and testing with users. A ‘soft launch’ was also undertaken in 2019 where the app was tested by under-10 metre fishing vessel owners who submitted data from over 100 individual fishing trips.</p><p> </p><p>During the full roll out phase of the service, further feedback is being used to make additional improvements to both the guidance and system functionality. The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) will continue to provide further support to the English fleet to help them adapt to the new digital solution.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The app was tested with seven vessels during the development phase in early September 2019. This was followed by a soft-launch testing exercise with 17 further vessels which successfully completed more than 100 fishing trips.</p><p> </p><p>The development phase met the service standards set by the Government Digital Services.</p><p> </p><p>To date all over 5.9 metre vessels have been invited to join the catch recording service, over 1000 have accepted and almost 4000 catch records have been submitted.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The catch recording system is currently in its roll out phase. As the system enters full usage and fishers get used to the system, the data gathered from it will be used to cross check data from sales notes. For at least the current quota management year catch records will be used to supplement but not replace sales note data in tracking uptake and setting limits.</p><p> </p><p>As the catch records capture a complete record of landings, any species or landing undeclared on a sales note will be taken from the catch record. Where sales notes and catch records both capture a species and/or a landing but differ in the recorded quantity then the Marine Management Organisation will give due consideration to the reason for the difference when making a decision on which value to use.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The requirement to report fish caught to the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) only applies to licenced commercial fishing vessel owners.</p><p> </p><p>Recreational sea anglers can fish for most finfish and shellfish species unrestricted and without the need to report catches to the MMO. However, recreational sea anglers are obliged to comply with EU minimum landing sizes and catch limits for certain species, for example those currently set under EU regulations for bass.</p><p> </p><p>A voluntary option for recreational sea angling catch reporting is available, via the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science managed Sea Angling diary: <a href="http://www.seaangling.org/" target="_blank">www.seaangling.org</a>.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy (CRGV), which is sometimes referred to as Alabama Rot, first emerged in the UK in 2012. The Animal and Plant Health Agency has been in touch from the start with the private veterinary group investigating the syndrome. While CRGV remains rare in the UK, we are now working with this vet group to commission research to improve our understanding. star this property answer text <p>For paper and electronic recording for vessels over 10m in length, there is an exemption on recording fish under 50kg in the log book. However, this information is supplemented by an additional requirement for a landing declaration which provides accurate weights of all fish caught. A similar exemption was considered for under 10m vessels, however, given some stocks catch limits are very small, applying a de-minimis exemption would not be appropriate.</p> more like this
