star this property answer text <p>British Overseas Territory Citizens (BOTC) have never been subject to the five year UK residency criteria which has been removed for citizens of Commonwealth member countries. BOTC have one of six types of British nationality which already makes them eligible to apply to join the British Armed Forces, and they serve as part of the British cohort. As at 1 April 2018 there were 130 BOTC serving in the trained strength of the British Armed Forces.</p><p>However, for security reasons the Armed Forces continue to have UK residency criteria to ensure the appropriate security standards which all applicants are required to meet. This will vary depending on the Service and role being applied for but applications are considered on a case by case basis.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Radiation (Emergency Preparedness and Public Information) Regulations 2019 (REPPIR) place a statutory duty on Plymouth City Council (PCC) to prepare and test an off-site emergency plan for the Devonport site. Previous tests of the off-site plan have been conducted during Exercise Short Sermon, with the frequency and timing of the exercise being agreed between PCC, the Ministry of Defence and Devonport Royal Dockyard Limited.</p><p>The next test of these arrangements will be conducted by PCC during Exercise Short Sermon 19, to be held on 12 September, and the Devonport site operations will continue to agree future test dates with PCC in accordance with REPPIR requirements.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Royal Navy employs a number of methods to recruit and retain personnel.</p><p>For recruitment the Royal Navy uses targeted advertising campaigns, web based and social media, radio and specific recruitment events. In addition, a range of mechanisms are used to attract and develop recruits including apprenticeship schemes and staged remunerative awards targeted at specialist areas.</p><p>In terms of retention of experienced personnel, a number of initiatives have been introduced, including targeted retention incentives and career extensions. Further developments under the Defence People Programme, such as flexible engagements, will help ensure that this process continues.</p> more like this

All five ships are planned to be delivered by the end of 2028.</p><p>Although work continues on the forward deployment of a Type 23 Frigate to the Gulf, we do not discuss the future operations of our ships. These considerations will be unaffected by the Type 31e procurement process.</p> more like this
