star this property answer text <p>The UK continues to follow developments on matters that relate to human rights within Bahrain, including Al Khawaja's case. Our close and long-standing ties with Bahrain allow UK Ministers and senior officials to raise sensitive human rights issues, including cases, regularly, privately and effectively. Most recently the Foreign Secretary met with his Bahraini counterpart during the IISS Manama Dialogue in November 2022, where human rights was raised amongst other issues.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We continue to monitor the case of Abduljalil al-Singace. We have raised Dr al-Singace’s case at senior levels with the Government of Bahrain. The Bahraini Government has been clear in public statements that access to medical care for those in detention is guaranteed by the Constitution of Bahrain. The Government of Bahrain has also publically stated that Dr Al Singace’s health continues to be monitored by a number of specialist consultants at the Royal Medical Services Hospital, where he has had 82 medical appointments since 2011, as well as 258 appointments at the Public Security Health Centre.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We continue to monitor the case of Mr Abdulrahman al-Sadhan. Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Ministers and senior officials regularly raise human rights in our engagement with the Saudi authorities. Minister Milling raised concern regarding the death penalty with the Saudi Ambassador on 23 May, and enquired into a specific high-priority case. Lord Ahmad also raised UK concerns about the death penalty with the Saudi Justice Minister on 6 June. We have consistently raised concerns about the use of solitary confinement, lack of family contact and allegations of torture in Saudi Arabia, and stressed the importance of due process.</p> more like this
