unstar this property answer text <p>The Home Office guidance makes clear that landlords are expected to carry out checks on all adults.</p><p>This approach helps landlords to avoid acting in a discriminatory manner and to establish a statutory excuse against a penalty should they be found letting to an illegal migrant. In many cases, landlords and agents will already be asking for the same documents for credit and tenant referencing purposes.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The provision of legal resources in France is a matter for the French Government.</p><p>Asylum seekers cannot claim asylum in the UK if they are in France. If a person requires international protection they should claim asylum in France, which is bound by the same EU and international obligations as the UK.</p><p>If after claiming asylum in France it is established that the UK is the state responsible for examining their claim on the basis of the Dublin regulation, including under its family unity provisions, a take charge request may be submitted to the Home Office.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>As stated in DFID's publicly available Annual Reports and Accounts, the final UK bilateral funding allocation to Yemen was £203 million for the 2017/18 financial year and £238 million for the 2019/20 financial year. This financial year (2020/21) we have committed to spend at least £200 million in aid to Yemen, the same amount we pledged last year, bringing the total UK commitment to over £1 billion since the conflict began in 2015.</p> more like this

We already strongly support efforts by the UN and the Syrian opposition to involve ethnic and religious minorities in the UN-mediated peace process. That is why we work closely with local authorities and other partners, including the Local Government Association, to ensure that capacity can be identified and the impact on those taking new cases can be managed in a fair and controlled way.</p><p>This is a voluntary scheme whereby local authorities sign up to accept refugees on a voluntary basis. We have asked them to think very carefully about whether they have the infrastructure and support networks needed to ensure the appropriate care and integration of these refugees before they make an offer of places to the Resettlement Team.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The accommodation provided to refugees resettled in the UK under the Syrian VPR programme is likely to be private rented accommodation and will be within existing local housing allowance rates.</p><p>The first 12 months of a refugee’s resettlement costs are fully funded by central government using the overseas aid budget. At the Spending Review, the Chancellor announced an estimated £460 million over the spending review period to cover the first 12 months’ costs under the scheme. The costs which can be covered from the aid budget include, for example, any education, housing, medical or social care the refugees might need immediately on arrival.</p><p>At the Spending Review the Government committed £129 million to assist with local authority costs over years 2-5 of the scheme. This will be allocated on a tariff basis over four years, tapering from £5,000 per person in their second year in the UK, to £1,000 per person in year five.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The UK has worked closely with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees on both the development and delivery of its Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme.</p><p>Through the International Organisation for Migration the UK offers cultural orientation pre-departure to refugees being resettled to the UK. Upon arrival, local authorities are funded to provide refugees with a 12 month support package tailored to their individual needs which includes; accommodation, support in addressing any medical and social care needs, integration assistance and English language tuition.</p> more like this

We continue to work closely with Local Authorities to ensure infrastructure and support networks are in place for the appropriate care and integration of these refugees. This includes ensuring suitable housing is available for them. The accommodation provided to refugees resettled in the UK under the Syrian VPR programme is likely to be private rented accommodation and will be within existing local housing allowance rates. We are not looking to host Syrian refugees in people's homes.</p> more like this
