To maximise this potential, the recently announced AI Sector Deal will establish a new AI Council to bring together respected leaders in the field from across academia and industry; a new delivery body within the government – the Office for Artificial Intelligence – to support it; and a new Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation.</p><p> </p><p>Oversight of the implementation of the Sector Deal will be led by the Office for Artificial Intelligence, which will review progress against objectives regularly.</p><p> </p><p>The new government Office for Artificial Intelligence will be established with responsibility for implementing this Sector Deal. It will support the AI Council which will oversee and drive the implementation of the deal.</p><p> </p><p>An early role for the Office for AI will be to agree implementation plans for each section of the deal, including agreed success metrics.</p><p> </p><p>Membership of the AI Council will be announced ahead of the first meeting. The main aim of the AI Council will be to provide strategic leadership and momentum in delivery.</p><p> </p><p>The Office for AI will report to the AI Council regularly and will be subject to challenge sessions from government ministers on progress in implementing the Sector Deal. Secondary legislation relating to this complaints handling service is currently before this House, and would need to come into force before the complaints service could launch. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/06/2018 answer text <p>NHS England has advised that it develops treatment criteria for cancer and other high cost drugs to support implementation of National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance and to ensure approved treatments are available as intended, with access funded consistently across the country. These criteria are developed by relevant expert clinical advisers, drawn from NHS England’s 42 Clinical Reference Groups (CRGs). These CRGs have been established to support clinical commissioning across the entire specialised commissioning portfolio.</p><p>In the case of NICE Technology Appraisal TA429 for ibrutinib in previously treated chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and untreated chronic lymphocytic leukaemia with 17p deletion or TP53 mutation, NICE issued the following statement on 8 June 2018:</p><p><strong> </strong>“Given the evidence that was considered by the NICE appraisal committee, we consider it reasonable for the guidance to be read as referring to those patients considered unsuitable for retreatment. Because unsuitability for retreatment is not defined in the guidance, we consider it appropriate for NHS England, as the commissioner, to take clinical advice in order to do so.”</p><p>NHS England took clinical advice in setting the specific treatment criteria linked to this appraisal and we are advised that the criteria were derived from the main study that had underpinned the NICE guidance and are consistent with guidance issued by the European Society for Medical Oncology last updated in June 2017. Between January 2017 and May 2018, nearly 1,000 patients were registered to receive treatment with ibrutinib in this indication. This is in line with NICE’s estimates that 700 adults per year would be eligible for treatment as a result of its guidance.</p><p>However, NHS England has further advised that it is more than willing to receive and review by the end of July, any further evidence that patients and clinicians wish to submit on this matter. The evidence will first be considered by NHS England’s Chemotherapy CRG, with advice and recommendations from this group then being submitted to the National Medical Director, Professor Steve Powis, for consideration.</p><p>During 2017/18, 1,193 Individual Funding Requests were considered by NHS England. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/11/2017 answer text <p>The number of days that are lost through sickness absence for the Student Loans Company (SLC) and the Department for Education are set out in the attached document.</p><p> </p><p>The data for the financial year 2017/18, in the attached table, shows that the number of days lost from April to October has reduced by 26% from 2016/17. This decrease can be contributed to the introduction of a new Attendance Management Policy from August 2017 which has seen the days lost each month reduce by over 30%.</p><p> </p><p>Even with seasonal variation in sickness levels, we would expect the reduction in days lost to still remain at 26% due to the continued attention paid to sickness absence within SLC. Anyone who feels they have been underpaid NMW should contact the Acas helpline on 0300 123 1100 or use the online pay and work rights complaints form on gov.uk. HMRC review all complaints that are referred to them.</p><p> </p><p>HMRC has contacted over 1,000 employers who advertise unpaid internships over the past year, signposting them to NMW guidance to help ensure they are compliant. The names of the employers contacted cannot be divulged for confidentiality reasons, and there are no plans to publish the correspondence sent by HMRC to such employers.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>There are no special rules in respect of interns for NMW purposes, and depending on the arrangements between the parties an intern can either be a worker, a voluntary worker or a volunteer. The liquidation process for such a complex and interconnected group of companies will take some time, as will gathering in full information regarding the creditors of the companies.</p><p> </p><p>We are carefully monitoring the situation and we have established a Taskforce with industry and unions to actively monitor the impact on SMEs and the supply chain, and to assess the action that can be taken to mitigate these effects. The Taskforce has delivered a range of supportive measures. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/06/2018 answer text <p>The Government has acted to support the development of a market that provides consumers with affordable and accessible pensions advice. That is why the Treasury and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) launched the Financial Advice Market Review (FAMR) in August 2015.</p><p> </p><p>HM Treasury and the FCA have, as part of FAMR, identified a range of indicators, to understand the demand and supply of financial advice in the market and establish a baseline. These include issues such as the cost of advice, number of firms in the market, consumer engagement, and reasons for not taking advice<sup><sup>[1]</sup></sup>. HM Treasury and the FCA will be carrying out a follow-up exercise in 2019 to see the extent to which issues in the market have been addressed.</p><p> </p><p>FAMR also proposed remedies to improve supply of affordable advice in the market. These included setting up an Advice Unit by the FCA to provide firms developing large-scale automated advice models with regulatory support to help bring these to the market more quickly. Automated advice has the potential to provide affordable advice to the mass market, with some existing models charging a fixed fee of below £500.</p><p> </p><p>The FCA has also been considering various issues regarding consumers who do not take advice in relation to their pension. They published the interim report of their Retirement Outcome Review<sup><sup>[2]</sup></sup> last year and will publish its final findings shortly.
