star this property answer text <p>The Treasury estimate that 3.3 million jobs in the UK may be related to exports to other European Union countries. This figure is based on the assumption that the share of UK employment associated with UK exports to the EU is equal to the share of output that is exported to the EU, making allowance for the composition of the UK economy. It is not an estimate of the impact of EU membership on employment.</p><p> </p><p>Allocating all of these jobs to specific sectors is challenging in the absence of data providing both a sectoral and geographical breakdown of exports. Such estimates would be very sensitive to the further assumptions required to allocate jobs to sectors.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government does not hold estimates of the total net contribution of the UK to EU expenditure in 2017 prices.</p><p> </p><p>Using the Office for National Statistics’ GDP Deflator, as of March 2017, the House of Commons Library briefing paper <em>The UK’s contribution to the EU Budget </em>has calculated the total annual UK contributions to the EU and its predecessors in real (2016) prices, dating back to 1973.</p><p> </p><p>Both gross and net contributions are given in Table 3, page 10 of the document. The totals for net contributions do not account for payments made directly from the EU to private sector bodies.</p><p>All other underlying assumptions used are detailed in the publication.</p> more like this

The Government do not maintain real price statistics of historical EU contributions.</p><p> </p><p>The Government’s cash figures have been used in the House of Commons Library briefing paper <em>The UK’s contribution to the EU Budget </em>in the calculation to determine the real price equivalents. star this property answer text <p>1) All eight mayoral combined authorities (MCAs) in England - Cambridgeshire &amp; Peterborough, Greater Manchester, Liverpool City Region, North of Tyne, Sheffield City Region, Tees Valley, West of England and West Midlands- have the following functions in common:</p><p> </p><ul><li><strong> <em>Integrated transport functions</em></strong></li><li><strong> <em>Bus improvement powers including bus franchising</em></strong></li><li><strong> <em>Economic development and regeneration powers</em></strong></li><li><strong> <em>Power to borrow for transport functions</em></strong></li></ul><p> </p><p>They also all have a power of competence over areas where they have had functions conferred. In the case of Cambridgeshire &amp; Peterborough and West of England this is the General Power of Competence that principal local authorities have.</p><p> </p><p>2) Each MCA has a different set of functions conferred on them, reflecting the bespoke nature of devolution deals as shown below:</p><ul><li><strong> <em>Power to raise a precept on council tax to fund mayoral powers </em></strong>- all MCAs except West of England.</li><li><strong> <em>Power to pay grant </em></strong>- all MCAs except Sheffield City Region.</li><li><strong> <em>Power to establish Mayoral Development Corporations </em></strong>- all MCAs, apart from Cambridgeshire &amp; Peterborough and Sheffield City Region</li><li><strong> <em>Power to borrow for any combined authority function </em></strong>- all MCAs except North of Tyne and Sheffield City Region</li><li><strong> <em>Adult education functions -</em></strong>all MCAs except North of Tyne and Sheffield City Region</li><li><strong> <em>Homes England powers around regeneration </em></strong>- all MCAs except Cambridgeshire &amp; Peterborough, Tees Valley and Sheffield City Region.</li><li><strong> <em>Power to raise a business rates supplement </em></strong>- Cambridgeshire &amp; Peterborough. star this property answer text <p>Direct entry offers the opportunity to widen the talent pool from where we attract our police officers and will bring in people from a diverse range of backgrounds. The introduction of direct entry allowed professionals from other sectors to join policing at a senior rank for the first time. These individuals have demonstrated that it is possible to join at this rank and gain the skills and competencies required to perform the job while also bringing a fresh perspective to police leadership.</p><p>The College of Policing is responsible for delivery of the direct entry scheme and will be publishing an evaluation fo the implementation of direct entry next year.</p><p> </p> more like this
