The long-term aim of the project is to see Network Rail generating renewable electricity for both train traction and other uses.</p><p> </p><p>The Department for Transport recently funded a demonstrator project that has connected 100 solar panels to the Wessex route’s traction system, with energy from the panels set to power signalling and lights.</p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>A new public body, Great British Railways, will run and plan the rail network, own the infrastructure, and receive the fare revenue. It will procure passenger services and set most fares and timetables, contracting with private companies to operate trains to the timetable and fares it specifies. Great British Railways will draw up contracts and the service plans that underpin them in line with its mandates to grow the railways and improve efficiency. Great British Railways will not design services that the infrastructure cannot support, or that are based on unworkable timetables, as happened repeatedly under franchising.</p><p> </p><p>There will also be the potential for new open access services to be explored in the future where spare capacity exists to make best use of the network and grow new markets for rail.</p> more like this

A 7.5 tonne weight restriction is in place on many streets in the centre of Bath so HGVs are directed to diversion routes to the east or west of the city.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>All Local Transport Authorities in England outside London have published Bus Service Improvement Plans, setting out local visions for transformed bus services. These plans will be assessed against the expectations that we set out in the National Bus Strategy and supporting guidance, including that there should be significant increases in bus priority to tackle congestion and speed up bus services. At the Budget we announced £1.2 billion of new dedicated funding for bus transformation deals and we will say more about how this funding will be allocated in due course.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>All employers in the UK have a responsibility to prevent illegal working by conducting simple right to work checks before they employ someone, to ensure the individual is not disqualified from working by reason of their immigration status.</p><p> </p><p>The EU Settlement Scheme allows EU citizens to apply to continue to live and work in the UK after 30 June 2021. Applications are free of charge and require the completion of three steps: proving their identity, showing that they live in the UK and declaring any criminal convictions.</p><p> </p><p>We therefore do not expect immigration removals to have an impact on transport.</p> more like this
