The training focused on basic infantry tactics, command and control, explosive hazard awareness training (EHAT) and medical training in order to build the capacity of forces whose operations on the ground against Daesh are being supported by the Global Coalition.

Through the Conflict Stability and Security Fund we have also funded some projects in which certain armed groups of the Syrian moderate opposition have been involved. These have included communications and medical training and, since 2015, projects to support stability in southern Syria. For security reasons, we do not disclose the names of those moderate opposition groups supported.
more like this

Given the fluid nature of armed group formations and individual affiliations throughout that period, it is not possible to confirm whether this included contact with individuals who may have had some association with Liwa al-Ummah and the Tripoli Brigade.

We have always been clear that there is no place for terrorism or extremism in Libya and we fully support Libyan efforts to tackle the terrorist threat. The UK is working closely with the Libyan Government and international partners to deliver a comprehensive approach to stabilisation, security and post-conflict reconstruction, which will tackle the root causes of violent extremism in Libya.
more like this

star this property answer text
The UK has exported a number of items to Israel over the last three years, including body armour, equipment to deal with military improvised explosive devices, and components for targeting equipment, military communications, tanks and military support aircraft and vehicles. We do not collect data on the use of equipment after sale. UK arms exports are subject to export controls. All decisions to approve export licences to Israel are considered on a case-by-case basis against the Consolidated EU and National Arms Export Licensing Criteria (Consolidated Criteria). Decisions are based on the most up-to-date information and analysis available, including reports from our overseas network and military contacts. The Consolidated Criteria provide a thorough risk assessment framework and require us to consider the impact of providing equipment and its capabilities. We do not issue export licences where, for example, we assess there is a clear risk that the goods might be used for internal repression. We keep our approach to all countries under continual review.

We routinely update our guidance to British businesses on the Overseas Business Risk website. We advise British businesses to bear in mind the British Government's view on the illegality of settlements under international law when considering their investments and activities in the region. Ultimately it will be the decision of each individual or company whether to operate in settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
more like this
