Working with partners and agencies, we are monitoring developments and doing all we can to end the conflict. The UK has played a leading role in diplomatic efforts and will continue to do so. My Right Honourable Friend the Foreign Secretary visited Yemen in March. He also hosted a ministerial Quad meeting last month to discuss implementation of the Hodeidah agreement and next steps in the political process. I welcome reports over the weekend that the Houthis have begun their withdrawal from Hodeidah. We want a positive future relationship that reflects our shared values and history, and will support the growth of culture, arts, sports and creative industries, in both the UK and the EU. However, these are not directly reciprocal to the UK’s Public Lending Right (PLR) Scheme, and decisions on whether UK-resident authors qualify for these will be for each Member State to make.</p><p> </p><p>The Authors' Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS), which represents UK authors in registering and claiming payments from lending rights schemes in Europe and elsewhere, has indicated that it supports the UK's PLR scheme remaining open to residents of EEA states. We continue to support organisations such as the Poetry School and the Poetry Society who aim to promote the recognition and appreciation of poetry. The Poetry Society will have received over £1 million in funding between 2015 and 2018, to help it continue to represent British poetry both nationally and internationally.</p><p> </p><p>A range of events were held across the country to celebrate World Poetry Day on 21 March. For example, Redbridge Library held an open mic session; Brighton &amp; Hove City Libraries tweeted its staff’s favourite poems on the day and Brighton Dome hosted the Emergency Poet and the Poetry Ambulance in Jubilee Square. To provide ongoing support to poetry, Arts Council England has recently given a substantial grant to The Poetry Business to support poets at every stage of their development. The UK is taking a leading role in working with the countries affected and with the international community to ensure that the current Ebola outbreak is contained and help reaches those in need. In total, over £25 million of British funding is supporting the global effort to contain this disease. This includes £5 million of new direct funding to help partners working on the ground like the WHO, Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières‎ to treat victims and prevent the spread of Ebola. We are working closely with the Wales Office to ensure that the Welsh language content on GOV.UK is underpinned by high quality user research that provides a simpler, clearer and faster service for users.</p><p>GOV.UK links to all Welsh-language government transactions (via <a href="https://www.gov.uk/cymraeg" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/cymraeg</a>), and has Welsh-language content for a number of commonly-used services, such as information on car tax and bank holidays. It is important that, in the non devolved areas sufficient support should be given to the Welsh language, and the Government is committed to ensuring this is done.</p><p>The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), along with other Government Departments, is not considered a ‘public body’ under the provisions of the Welsh Language Act (section 21), meaning that it is not required to prepare Welsh language schemes.
