Climate change and environmental protection are already included in the school curriculum.</p><p> </p><p>It is important that young people are taught about climate change and environmental protection so they understand both the challenges we face and the solutions. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/04/2019 answer text <p>The Government recognises that climate change is one of the most urgent and pressing challenges we face, which is why we have set out ambitious plans in our Clean Growth Strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through to 2032 and beyond.</p><p> </p><p>The Strategy builds on the UK’s strong progress we have made towards our legally binding targets, established in the world-leading Climate Change Act. Between 1990 and 2017, the UK reduced its emissions by over 40 per cent while growing the economy by more than two thirds.</p><p> </p><p>Looking ahead to the future, we have commissioned the Committee on Climate Change to provide advice on the implications of the Paris Agreement for the UK’s long-term emissions reduction targets, including on setting a net zero target. The Department for Education (DfE) has worked closely with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on the plan. DfE is funding the children and nature programme, a £10 million programme that aims to support children from disadvantaged backgrounds to have better access to the natural environment. The programme has been designed to make it possible for schools to undertake a range of activities in natural spaces, including learning about nature and how to care for the natural environment. This programme complements the scope that already exists to study environmental issues throughout the curriculum, in particular in science and geography lessons.</p><p> </p><p>Defra and the DfE regularly work together on ways to make children aware of issues that impact on the environment and how they can help tackle them. There is scope to study environmental issues throughout the curriculum. For example, in primary school science, pupils are taught that environments can change and this can pose a danger to living things. In geography at key stage 3, pupils will look at how human and physical processes interact to influence and change landscapes, environments and the climate. In GCSE, science pupils will consider the evidence and uncertainties in evidence, for additional anthropogenic causes of climate change. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/04/2019 answer text <p>Medicines supply problems can occur for a number of reasons due to manufacturing difficulties, regulatory problems and problems with the supply of raw materials, or from issues which are related to the distribution of the product. The manufacture of medicines is complex and highly regulated, and materials and processes must meet rigorous safety and quality standards, so difficulties can arise for various reasons.</p><p> </p><p>The Department understand that maintaining access to anti-epileptic drugs, drugs for bipolar disorder and those used in the management of neuropathic pain is vitally important to many people in this country. We are aware of some issues with medicines used in epilepsy, bipolar disorder and neuropathic pain over the past few months. During this time, we sought specialist advice to allow a clinical management plan to be developed. Expert clinicians provided input on the clinical management plan to ensure affected patients can be managed appropriately during the supply issue. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/04/2019 answer text <p>In November 2015, the UK National Screening Committee recommended that human papillomavirus (HPV) screening should replace the currently used liquid based cytology test as the primary screening for cervical disease.</p><p> </p><p>NHS England has since worked with partner organisations to determine the most viable approach for how this service could be delivered safely, effectively and sustainably on a national level. A robust options appraisal process and due diligence process was undertaken by Public Health England and NHS England to determine the optimum number of laboratories required to provide HPV primary screening. This process resulted in the procurement of nine laboratories.</p><p> </p><p>The procurement process involved robust assessment of all bids received for these services and NHS England is in the process of finalising this stage in the procurement.
