unstar this property answer text <p>​The information requested is not held centrally.</p><p> </p><p>The department does not collect data on the number of speaking events blocked by a University or Students’ Union, books removed from university libraries and changes to courses due to changes in equalities guidance</p><p> </p><p>​As set out in a statement on 17 May, we do not believe that measuring free speech on campus by events that happen is sufficient, as this does not evidence self-censorship or those events that do not happen in the first place. We are committed to defending free speech on campus to avoid a culture of censorship which risks leading to those outcomes to which the question refers. Comprehensive guidance on Freedom of Speech for the higher education sector is due to be published by the end of the year.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Al-Muhajiroun and National Action are proscribed under the Terrorism Act 2000. Membership is illegal and these groups should not be given a platform at universities.</p><p> </p><p>Universities have a legal duty to take reasonable steps to ensure freedom of speech, including for visiting speakers (under the Education Act (No 2) 1986). The government therefore, does not support blanket no-platforming of individuals or organisations who are legally exercising their right to freedom of speech; it is for universities to balance their legal duties on a case-by-case basis.</p><p> </p><p>The government’s position on this issue has been publicly stated on a number of occasions.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>As befits their importance to the Welsh economy, my ministerial team and I regularly meet with farmers’ unions and representatives of rural communities to discuss a number of issues, including the impact of the UK leaving the European Union.</p><p> </p><p>Most recently, the UK Government Minister for Wales, Guto Bebb MP, along with the Minister for Farming, George Eustice MP, met with the Farmers Union of Wales on 13 November and the National Farmers Union Cymru on 15 November.</p><p> </p><p>Both the FUW and NFU Cymru, along with the Country Land and Business Association, are members of my Expert Panel. The panel meets regularly, and last met on 6 November.</p> more like this

Common frameworks should only be established where they are necessary and this includes the maintenance of a functioning UK internal market. unstar this property answer text <p>Under the terms of the financial settlement, signed off by both UK and EU Commission negotiators in a draft Withdrawal Agreement and welcomed by the EU-27 at March European Council, the UK will continue to participate in all EU programmes funded by the 2014-20 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF). Agricultural funding will, therefore, be unaffected by the UK’s withdrawal from the EU for the remainder of this MFF.</p><p> </p><p>Beyond 2020, this Government has also pledged to continue to commit the same cash total in funds for farm support until the end of the parliament, expected in 2022. This is a greater level of security and certainty for farmers and landowners than anywhere else in the EU, where funding has only been agreed up until 2020.</p> more like this
