unstar this property answer text <p>The Department does not make assessments of the effect of the number of pub closures on the night time economy.</p><p> </p><p>The Government recognises the importance of pubs to communities and the high street. At Spring Budget 2017, my rt. hon. Friend Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer announced a package of support for pubs in England with their business rates. This provided a £1,000 discount to all pubs with a rateable value of less than £100,000. This scheme was extended by an additional year into 2018/19 at Autumn Budget.</p><p> </p><p>The Chancellor of the Exchequer also announced at Autumn Budget 2017 that he was freezing all alcohol duties.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The European Commission has made it clear that while the UK remains a member of the EU, proposals from, or including, UK applicants must be treated in the same way as applications from other Member States including for collaborations under Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+.</p><p>In addition, the HM Treasury announcement on 13th August brought clarity on continuity of research funding by stating that competitively bid for projects applied for before the UK departs the EU would be underwritten by the Treasury for the life of the project.</p><p>The Government is vigilant and will continue to monitor any problems in this area. unstar this property answer text <p>Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analytics will change jobs and businesses across the country, and we want people to be able to capitalise on these opportunities. Following a review of AI led by Professor Dame Wendy Hall and Jérôme Pesenti,<em> Growing the AI Industry in the UK</em>, our Industrial Strategy will address the Grand Challenge of making the UK a global centre for AI and data innovation and embed the power of this technology across our economy.</p><p>Embedding AI across the UK will create thousands of good quality jobs and drive economic growth across the regions. A recent study found digital technologies created a net total of 80,000 new jobs annually across a population similar to the UK. By one estimate, AI could add £232bn to the UK economy by 2030.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Department does not routinely collect comprehensive information about how many workers opt-out of the 48 hour maximum working week.</p><p> </p><p>However, the Department conducted a review of the impact of the Working Time Regulations in 2014.
