	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/10/2017 answer text <p><ins class="ministerial">The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has had no such discussions. National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGBs) are not public bodies, and as such are not subject to the Freedom of Information Act. NGBs are typically independent, self-appointed organisations that govern their sports through the common consent of their sport. Transparency is an important principal of good governance, and is reflected in our Code for Sport Governance, with which all bodies in receipt of UK Sport or Sport England funding must now demonstrate compliance. </ins></p><p><del class="ministerial">The cross-Government sport strategy ‘Sporting Future’ set out our intention to encourage as many people and groups to enjoy sport as participants, spectators and in the workforce, including the LGBT community. It also includes a number of other actions to ensure that all under-represented groups can take part in sport and wider physical activity through a focus on local delivery, and working with people through volunteering, coaching and the sporting workforce. Our aim is to increase diversity among sporting organisations and help the sport sector to be more inclusive and welcoming to all.</del></p><p> </p><p><del class="ministerial">Government continues to work with Sport England and National Governing Bodies of sport, alongside organisations including Pride Sports, Stonewall, and Kick it Out on a number of anti-homophobia initiatives aimed at encouraging inclusion. In March, Sport England commissioned Pride Sports to produce a second in depth report on barriers to LGBT participation. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/09/2018 answer text <p>As part of the 2016-2021 National Cyber Security Strategy the Government created the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to be the authority on the UK’s cyber security environment, sharing knowledge, addressing systemic vulnerabilities and providing leadership on key national cyber security issues.</p><p> </p><p>The NCSC’s work includes publishing practical security guidance, such as 10 steps to Cyber Security, which provides a sound basis for any business to take informed cyber security decisions and actions that are right for their organisation. For smaller businesses, NCSC’s Small Business Guide sets out easy, low-cost steps to help protect data, assets and reputation. Businesses may also join the Cyber information Sharing Partnership (CiSP), a joint industry and government initiative to exchange cyber threat information. As a result, the Country of Origin principle, which allows audiovisual services to obtain a broadcasting licence in one Member State for all their channels and services across the EU, will no longer apply. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/10/2017 answer text <p>As with all funded sports, the Football Association is required to meet the obligations set out in Sport England and UK Sport’s funding agreements, which require appropriate safeguarding policies and procedures to be put in place and adherence to the Standards for Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Sport (the ‘Standards’) issued by the NSPCC’s Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU). The CPSU conducts an annual review of National Governing Bodies and reports back to ensure this funding condition is being met. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/01/2018 answer text <p>DCMS is not aware of recent assessments of the financial viability of amateur sports clubs involved in cycling, rugby or football.</p><p> </p><p>It would be within the remit of NGBs (National Governing Bodies) to assess the financial viability of their affiliated clubs.</p><p> </p><p>The NGBs for cycling, rugby and football all have sections on their websites on the Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) Scheme. The scheme was introduced in April 2002 and allows local amateur sports clubs to register with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and benefit from a range of tax reliefs, including Gift Aid, where they meet qualifying conditions.</p><p> </p><p>A Club Survey was commissioned last year by Sport England to explore a number of issues including whether finances and funding are a cause for concern among clubs. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/02/2018 answer text <p>Following a robust assessment process, on 20 December 2017 Sport England and UK Sport made a formal statement on the current levels of compliance with the Code for Sports Governance of the 58 national governing bodies (NGBs) of sport that they fund. UK Sport and Sport England are working with the other organisations that they fund to assess compliance against the Code and are now working to develop and embed an ongoing, risk-based approach for assessing whether organisations continue to be compliant over the longer term.</p><p> </p><p>The transparency expectations in the Code (Principle 3) place an onus on the funded organisation and emphasise the importance of providing clear and relevant information to stakeholders regarding the funded organisation’s decision-making and performance. One of the aspects of the Code is that organisations subject to it are expected to publish an Annual Governance Statement which should provide a summary of how the organisation in question is complying with the Code, including any areas that require action or improvement.</p><p> </p><p>We have been clear that compliance with the Code for Sports Governance is not a tick box exercise and that the sport and physical activity sector needs to make substantive and enduring changes to the way it approaches governance to secure lasting improvements.</p><p> </p><p>The Government has also been clear that organisations must continue to strive to embrace and live the values, cultures and behaviours that are at the heart of the Code, and that any organisations deemed at any stage to be non-compliant with the requirements of the Code are at risk of having their funding removed.</p><p> </p><p>We will continue to discuss with the leadership of Sport England and UK Sport in the coming months the effectiveness of the Code and the impact it is having within the sector.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p> answering member constituency Chatham and Aylesford answering member printed Tracey Crouch question first answered 20/02/2018 13:33:59 answering member 3950 label Biography information for Dame Tracey Crouch
