Human rights continue to form an integral part of our dialogue with the Colombian government. Our Embassy in Bogota meets regularly with non-govermental organisations and trade unions and, as appropriate, raises our concerns with the Colombian government. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/06/2015 answer text <p>Colombia was first included in the Human Rights and Democracy Report as a “Country of Concern” in 2001, primarily due to human rights abuses perpetrated by state and non-state actors involved in the ongoing internal conflict. <br><br>The Colombian government has committed to improving the human rights situation and has made some progress, for example through the creation of the National Protection Unit (NPU). However, significant challenges remain, not least in the number of threats to human rights defenders. Whilst the United Kingdom cannot interfere in Colombia’s judicial process, we have in the past raised concerns regarding due process and prison conditions with the Government of Colombia – particularly in relation to imprisoned trade unionists. To date, the Conflict Stability and Security Fund has provided almost £20 million in funding to projects supporting peace in Colombia. We have also contributed a larger amount on programmes that support peace indirectly, for example through environmental sustainability. While we have not made an assessment of the humanitarian needs of Palestinian detainees, a focus of UK human rights engagement is Palestinian minors in Israeli military detention, as we have concerns about the treatment of minors during arrest and interrogation. This information is not recorded centrally and accordingly it would be impractical to attempt to produce a comprehensive list of such meetings and discussions. The Foreign Secretary himself met his Human Rights Advisory Group on 10 October to discuss current challenges to press freedom.</p><p>The FCO also supports projects run by organisations that promote press freedom.
