unstar this property answer text <p>The Department has no plans to assess the adequacy of the General Medical Council’s (GMC) voluntary erasure code in cases where a general practitioner (or any other doctor) is under investigation.</p><p> </p><p>As the independent regulator of doctors in the United Kingdom the GMC sets the standards all doctors must follow to practise in the UK. It is responsible for how it discharges its statutory duties, including the processes for considering applications for voluntary erasure as set out in legislation.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Government has recognised that the existing legislative framework for surrogacy has not kept pace with social change and has therefore asked the Law Commission to review all surrogacy related law and make proposals for change, as part of a three year project.</p><p> </p><p>The Commission started the project in May and have been taking evidence from a wide range of stakeholders throughout 2018. The Commission is intending to publish a consultation paper setting out findings and options in spring 2019.</p> more like this

Guidance on security culture, including cyber security and managing digital footprints, is available to staff through the Department’s intranet.</p><p> </p><p>All Departmental staff are required to undertake learning related to the handling and protection of information and safe online practice at the point of induction and also on an annual basis. There is opportunity for learners to test their learning and knowledge at the end of the learning course.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The Chief Medical Officer and NHS England issued a letter on the 31 October 2018, and a supplementary letter on 20 November 2018, providing guidance to clinicians, the National Health Service and independent organisations following the rescheduling of cannabis-based products for medicinal use on 1 November 2018. This signposts interim guidance issued by the Royal College of Physicians, British Paediatric Neurology Association and Association of British Neurologists.</p><p> </p><p>Furthermore, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), has been commissioned to develop guidelines on the prescribing of cannabis-based medicinal products by October 2019. The guidance will focus on four indications: chronic pain, intractable nausea and vomiting, treatment-resistant epilepsy and spasticity. It will be based on the best available international evidence and produced using NICE’s world-renowned process for delivering such guidelines. This guidance will update and replace the interim guidance.</p><p> </p>

unstar this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to supporting people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) to live healthy, independent lives and to participate in their communities. NHS Digital continues to work with the Department and NHS England on the development of access and waiting times reporting for mental health care pathways. Consideration is being given as to how collection of data on ADHD can be improved on a national level, including improving consistency and comparability of any data currently collected. The Department is also working closely with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and their ADHD Implementation Working Group to look at how the current NICE guidance and quality standard on ADHD are being implemented and to inform discussions about how data can be improved.</p> more like this
