<p>In February 2016, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE)
published a refreshed clinical guideline 72: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder:
diagnosis and management. This sets out the evidence-based approach to supporting
children over three, young people and adults with attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder (ADHD).</p><p> </p><p>NICE is developing a new guideline on ADHD which is
expected to be published in February 2018.</p><p> </p><p>England continues to develop
pathways for mental health services, which benefit people with ADHD needing mental
health support, to promote evidence-based approaches to care and tackle unwarranted
variation in provision. NICE and the National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health
have been commissioned to develop these pathways.</p><p> </p><p>Information on waiting
times for ADHD diagnosis, or on the waiting time from referral to treatment, is not
collected centrally by the National Health Service.</p><p> </p><p>Information on funding
specifically allocated to ADHD treatment by local commissioners in the last seven
years is not held centrally.</p>
