	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/10/2015 answer text <p>Horse chestnut trees have been affected by two particular organisms in recent years; the horse chestnut leaf miner (<em>Cameraria ohridella</em>) and horse chestnut bleeding canker (<em>Pseudomonas syringae</em> pathovar <em>aesculi</em>).</p><p>These are both well established in Great Britain and statutory action to destroy affected trees would be impractical.</p><p>Forest Research has been involved in several studies to understand the nature of the organisms and their spread. This work has been used to develop recommendations for evidence-based disease management.</p><p>The UK Plant Health Risk Register helps to identify new and revised threats to horse chestnut trees and priority actions in response. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/10/2015 answer text <p>Government does not hold information on the value of shooting to the economy.</p><br /><p>According to the Moorland Association (<a href="http://www.moorlandassociation.org/grouse-shooting-economics/" target="_blank">www.moorlandassociation.org/grouse-shooting-economics/</a>), in England grouse moor management creates 42,500 work days a year and is responsible for over 1,500 full-time posts. This reaffirms the Government’s commitment to working with land owners and other organisations as part of a reinforced package of measures to support targeted grey squirrel control. The action plan includes:</p><ul><li>Additional measures in forestry options of Countryside Stewardship for land managers to control grey squirrels (not just in red squirrel areas but in woodlands where squirrels are a threat to management plan objectives).</li><li>Plans for a national squirrel partnership to help local groups outside of grant schemes.</li><li>Support for research and evidence (for example squirrel pox vaccine and fertility control work).</li><li>Taking action on its land holding (the public forest estate).</li></ul><p>Defra is also one of 32 signatories to the UK Squirrel Accord, which aims to bring a concerted and coordinated approach to securing the future of our red squirrels and woodlands, and to controlling the introduced grey squirrel.
