star this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to tackling our shortage of STEM skills so we can grow the workforce we need for a dynamic economy. We are doing this by investing in programmes to increase the take-up of maths, by incentivising schools using the recently launched advanced maths premium and supporting better teaching of maths, physics and computing in schools, including a new £84 million programme to improve computing teaching.</p><p> </p><p>To improve the development of technical STEM skills, the Government is introducing T levels, which will be developed with employers, and provide progression opportunities into skilled work or higher level study, including degrees.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Flights between the UK and the EU will continue whatever the outcome of EU Exit. In a deal scenario, flights will continue as now during the time-limited Implementation Period. In a no deal scenario, the EU have adopted a regulation which gives UK airlines the right to fly to and from the EU for 12 months, and the UK will reciprocate these rights for EU airlines. As the public consultation document sets out, we are considering different options, and I would encourage anyone who believes their local station should be included in a pay-as-you-go zone to respond to the consultation, saying what they want and why.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Annual Statistics of Scientific Procedures on Living Animals in Great Britain 2013 report a total of 52,444 procedures were conducted on 6,725 animals with ‘Direct diagnosis’ as the primary purpose. This represents a 3% increase on the total number of procedures, in this category, in 2012 and a 1% increase on the number of animals, in this category, in 2012. Most procedures reported under the category ‘Direct diagnosis’ involve the collection of blood or blood products from either non-immunised animals or animals immunised against various antigens. The procedure of blood collection is classified as being of low severity and, with appropriate licence authority, may be repeated <br>many times in the same animal. star this property answer text <p> </p><p>The Annual Statistics of Scientific Procedures on Living Animals in Great Britain 2013 report a total of 1.16 million procedures were conducted on animals with ‘Fundamental biological research’ as the primary purpose. This is a reduction of 11% over the figure for 2012. The change in the number of procedures carried out in this category, in any particular year, depends on many factors. These factors include: investment in fundamental biological research; strategic decisions taken by funding bodies; global economic trends; scientific innovation; and, the development and uptake of validated alternative technologies.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

We have asked for the views of interested parties by 6 February 2018 on a range of issues, including manufacturing standards, secure storage and whether current arrangements are sufficient to prevent children gaining access to air weapons. As part of the review, we are looking at the arrangements in Scotland and Northern Ireland where air weapons with a muzzle energy of more than one joule are subject to licensing regimes.
