star this property answer text <p>The Government is working to take forward the mandate from Parliament to seek legally binding changes to the Withdrawal Agreement negotiated with the EU. When these changes have been finalised, the Government will seek parliamentary approval of the Agreement. Once the Withdrawal Agreement is approved, the terms of the UK’s participation in EU agencies and programmes during the Implementation Period, will be as set out in Article 128 of the Withdrawal Agreement. Work will also commence to discuss and shape our future relationship with the EU, which will build on the content of the Political Declaration. These future partnership discussions will determine the UK’s membership to EU agencies and programmes after the Implementation Period.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Government believes it is essential that everyone has access to affordable, good-quality financial products and that credit unions have a role in providing this vital service.</p><p>DWP awarded a £38m contract to the Association of British Credit Unions Limited to deliver an expansion project to enable participating credit unions to modernise, expand their services and provide affordable credit to more consumers.</p><p>DWP have also publicised the work of credit unions, encouraged DWP staff to join their local credit unions, and have ensured that benefit or pension payments can be paid into any credit union account.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The only agreed EU directive which has not yet been transposed directly into UK law is <em>2013/59/Euratom (laying down basic safety standards for protection against the dangers arising from exposure to ionising radiation, and repealing Directives 89/618/Euratom, 90/641/Euratom, 96/29/Euratom, 97/43/Euratom and 2003/122/Euratom). </em></p><p>This is a joint transposition with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. star this property answer text <p>On 6th July 2016 DWP launched a payroll savings scheme to allow staff to access financial services delivered by three partner credit unions - Commsave, Hull and East Yorkshire, and Voyager Alliance - directly through payroll. This initiative formed part of DWP’s “Working Well Together” wellbeing programme. Early indications are that the scheme has been very well received and so far over 2,100 DWP staff have signed up as credit union members through payroll.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Pension Protection Fund (PPF) is an independent body which pays compensation to members of defined benefit occupational pension schemes where the sponsoring employer becomes insolvent and the scheme is unable to cover the accrued pension liabilities. The PPF is funded from a combination of the transferred scheme funds, recoveries from the insolvent employer, investment return and a levy on eligible schemes.</p><p> </p><p>Under the Pensions Act 2004, the levy is set by the PPF independently of the Government.</p><p>I have received one letter regarding the impact of the Pension Protection Fund levy on retail co-operatives, which I referred to the PPF for a reply.</p> more like this

In July 2016, DWP reached an agreement with 3 credit unions (Commsave, Hull and East Yorkshire and Voyager) to provide services, including payroll deduction, to DWP employees. Currently around 3,800 DWP employees have voluntarily joined that scheme and received credit union loans of around £3 million.</p> more like this
