Iran refused to seize the critical diplomatic opportunity in August to conclude the deal, and continues to make demands beyond the scope of the JCPoA. We are considering next steps with our partners. This repression has only increased since Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine, as the Russian authorities seek to quash opposition. In Ukraine, Russia has persecuted Crimean Tatars, Jehovah's Witnesses, and clergy belonging to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and Protestant churches in Russian-controlled areas since 2014. Russia has extended this policy to newly seized areas in the course of its invasion, resulting in further FoRB violations. Hamas is a proscribed organisation under the Terrorism Act 2000, meaning it is a criminal offence in the UK to provide money or other property to the group. Since the 7 October attacks on Israel, the UK has also designated 19 individuals and entities in the senior leadership and financial networks of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), in close coordination with the US. This adds to the existing sanctions on Hamas and PIJ in their entirety. We have also used our new Iran sanctions powers to target Iranian financial support for Hamas. We continue to urge de-escalation.</p><p>We have consistently stated our support for the sovereign right of the Republic of Cyprus to exploit the oil and gas in its internationally agreed Exclusive Economic Zone. We also continue to attach the utmost importance to securing a long-term settlement to the division of Cyprus and believe the most enduring way of resolving difficult issues such as this is to achieve a Cyprus settlement. We encourage all parties to redouble their efforts in pursuit of this.</p><p>We believe it is critical for stability in the Mediterranean and for the integrity of the rules-based international system that disputes such as this are resolved, not through force, militarisation or coercion, but through dialogue and in accordance with international law. Gavi has immunised over 760 million children, saving 13 million lives from preventable diseases. The UK is proud to have played a significant role in delivering these extraordinary results.</p><p>Children born to the poorest families, with the lowest levels of education, and living in the hardest to reach areas are the least likely to get vaccinations. Our priority as hosts of the Global Vaccine Summit 2020 will be to help Gavi secure the funding it needs to further deliver its life-saving work. As part of our influencing efforts, the UK will press for new strategies to address the poverty barriers and identify those children who miss out on life-saving vaccines. This includes promoting equitable coverage of immunisation to leave no-one behind and ensure vaccines are available for the most vulnerable. We are making progress against our 2013 N4G commitments as follows:</p><ul><li>DFID has already exceeded its commitment to invest £2.13 billion from 2013 to 2020 in nutrition sensitive programmes – to date we have spent £2.7 billion on this type of programme;</li><li>We have also unlocked the full amount of nutrition matched funding committed in 2013 – this has leveraged £560 million more for nutrition from other donors; and</li><li>We are working to ensure we reach the target to invest £575 million on direct nutrition services by the end of this year.</li></ul><p>DFID officials are working closely with the Government of Japan to prepare for the 2020 Nutrition for Growth Summit. This will be an important opportunity to secure new commitments to nutrition, to set the world on a better track to achieve the Global Goals and to help achieve our ambition of ending preventable deaths by 2030. They discussed a wide range of bilateral and regional issues.</p><p>The UK shares the concerns of both the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities over the missing persons following the events of 1974, which understandably remains a very sensitive issue. We commend the important work being undertaken by the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP), and the contribution it makes to bringing closure for the many families affected. We facilitate the CMP including by enabling it to work from a British-owned site in the Buffer Zone at minimal cost. In June 2019, the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus was granted access by Turkey to 30 additional military areas in the north of the island that could contain burial sites. We also continue to attach the utmost importance to securing a long-term settlement to the division of Cyprus and believe the most enduring way of resolving difficult issues such as this is to achieve a Cyprus settlement. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/04/2020 answer text <p>DFID will deliver a comprehensive response to the COVID-19 pandemic in developing countries, through programming to support the global health and economic response, funding for further vaccine development, preparation for the recovery phase and leadership within the international community.</p><p>We have agreed that part of this funding will go to NGOs, including UK charities that are using British expertise and experience to deal with COVID-19, the majority of which will be allocated through the Rapid Response Facility. We have also committed funding to the International Committee of the Red Cross and British Red Cross to reach populations in some of the hardest to reach areas, including those affected by conflict. The UK has, so far, pledged £744 million of UK aid to help end the COVID-19 pandemic as quickly as possible. This includes a package of £200 million to support UK charities and international organisations to help reduce mass infections in developing countries, which often lack the healthcare systems to track and prevent the virus from spreading.</p><p>Through our multilateral partnerships with organisations like the WHO and the World Bank, and our regional and national programmes, the UK supports developing countries to make their domestic health systems stronger and more resilient. In turn this enables them to prevent, detect and respond to health threats, such as COVID-19. The Global Trachoma mapping project, funded by the UK Government, examined 2.6 million people for trachoma and informed national strategies for tackling the disease Resilient health systems are at the core of global efforts to prevent and treat diseases. UK Government officials raised the issue with Ankara both before and after the action taken by Turkey and the Turkish Cypriots to open up the shoreline of the fenced-off area in October 2020. The Foreign Secretary raised the issue of Varosha during his call with the Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu on 19 November. Additionally, during his trip to Cyprus on 4 February, he raised it with the Turkish Cypriot leader Tatar.</p><p>The UK strongly supports the numerous Security Council Resolutions covering the issue of Varosha, notably 550 (1984) and 789 (1992).
