star this property answer text <p>The Government is considering different options for celebrating and supporting pride events in 2017 and will provide further details in due course.</p><p> </p><p>At Pride this year, the Government demonstrated its commitment to LGB&amp;T equality in different ways: we flew the rainbow flag on top of the government buildings; the Prime Minister Theresa May issued a statement of solidarity with the LGB&amp;T community ahead of the Brighton Pride, and I released an op-ed ahead of the Portsmouth Pride.</p><p> </p><p>We are looking forward to celebrating the diversity of our communities at Pride next year.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Women’s Business Council, an independently led, government-backed body publishes a Progress Report annually, to account for business activity. The Council’s latest Progress Report was published in October 2016, and set out the Council’s current priorities for 2016-17.</p><p><a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/560524/6.2658_GEO_WBC_3_years_on_v5_web.pdf" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/560524/6.2658_GEO_WBC_3_years_on_v5_web.pdf</a></p><p> </p><p>The Progress Report due for publication in July 2017, will set out the Council’s priorities for 2017-18.</p><p> </p><p>The Council does not directly employ any staff. The secretariat for the Council is based in the Government Equalities Office, which has provided two full-time equivalent posts to support the Council since its creation in 2012.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency, is continuing its mission to challenge the disproportionately low numbers of women entrepreneurs in the UK through its inaugural ‘infocus – Women in Innovation’ competition.</p><p> </p><p>Launched in May 2016, the nationwide competition aimed to increase the number of women led applications for Innovate UK funding opportunities. Each winner was awarded £50,000, a tailored business support package and was paired with a business mentor. The winners of the first competition were announced in November 2016.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Women benefit from the full range of business support available from the Government, including Start-Up Loans, a third of which have gone to women, enabling them to lead their own businesses. I am proud that 1.2m businesses in the UK are led by women.</p><p> </p><p>However, we want to see more women at the top of business. There are a huge number of talented women in the UK and we need to ensure they are able to utilise their skills and reach their potential.</p> more like this
