This includes: the refurbishment of the lantern; removing the extensive dust deposits from the roof timbers; minor repairs to the interior of the roof to stabilize decorative elements and tracery; fire protection improvements; and new lighting.</p><p>The principal contractor for the programme is Mitie, who have in turn subcontracted the refurbishment of the lantern, cleaning of dust deposits and the minor repairs to the heritage and conservation specialists, DBR Limited. The programme of work is supervised by heritage architects Donald Insall Associates.</p><p>There is a large body of academic material on the Hall already available, with principal studies conducted between 1854 and 2016. Both information from this, together with extensive condition surveys, have been used as the basis for the specification for the current work and any further survey in this regard would be of no evident value to Parliament. It should be noted that the roof is an example of ‘standing archaeology’ – that is, it will be accessible for the foreseeable future as it has been in the past. The obligation to record the repairs and to deposit the records in the archives will be undertaken by the consultant conservation architect (Donald Insall Associates), specialist conservators, the in-house Architecture &amp; Heritage team and Historic England. This information will be made available to interested parties and therefore no further archaeological supervision is necessary.</p><p>I have sent the hon. Owners of bicycles wishing to park in the Colonnade or Star Chamber Court are required to display a numbered plastic tag obtainable from the Hall Keeper’s Lodge. Bicycles parked in those areas during sitting periods not displaying a tag will eventually be removed. Untagged bicycles which have not been claimed are put into storage on the Estate. Once put into storage, bicycles which are still not claimed after two months will be given to charity. There are currently 417 spaces on the Estate – including House of Lords areas – of which 269 are covered. This compares to 176 in 2012 (94 covered). 30 of the additional covered spaces are in the basement of 14 Tothill Street, which is a building occupied by House staff only. Additional facilities available for cyclists on the Estate include periodic &quot;Dr. Bike&quot; free maintenance checks, bicycle tools and pumps. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/06/2015 answer text <p>The cost of the work for the North Estate (Curtis Green) entrance, including anti-vehicle barriers, security cabin and specialist security equipment, totalled £613,069, with 60% being charged to the House of Commons and 40% to the House of Lords. The work took place between 2010 and 2012.<br><br>The entrance was designed to be dedicated for vehicles, including large heavy goods vehicles, entering/exiting the estate. A dedicated cycle entry gate has been installed at Derby Gate as this entrance has the width to allow safe vehicle, cycle and pedestrian access, whereas the Northern Entrance does not. This is under constant review by the relevant House Authorities.</p><p>An assessment of the implications for both vehicle and bicycle entry at the Northern Entrance is planned to be conducted to reflect the construction of the East-West Bicycle Superhighway. The results will be reported to the hon. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/02/2015 answer text <p>The value of the contract works for resurfacing the Canon Row carriageway and the pavings around the north and west sides of Norman Shaw North is £372,857 excluding VAT.</p><p>The paving stones in both Canon Row and around Norman Shaw North are either lifting or breaking up. By relaying the carriageways in asphalt rather than replacing the stones, future maintenance costs will be reduced. In addition, the provision of a smooth surface will make it easier and safer to walk on (there having been several reported trips and slips) and to move heavy items in and out of the buildings.
