star this property answer text <p>Although the Government has not undertaken this specific assessment, we closely monitor trends in bird populations. These trends have long been considered to provide a good indication of the broad state of our wildlife.</p><p> </p><p>In November last year, the Government published <em>Wild Bird Populations in England, 1970 to 2017</em>. Overall, this showed that the combined all-species index has changed little compared with around 45 years ago. However, there was much variation in numbers between species, with some species increasing and some species decreasing.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Local Authorities have direct responsibility to produce shoreline management plans covering the entire coast of England. These plans provide a long term, sustainable policy framework for local authorities, to manage the risk of coastal change over the next 100 years.</p><p> </p><p>Government is working closely with coastal authorities on a review of shoreline management plans to ensure they are up to date and using the best evidence. Schemes within the current capital investment programme to 2021 benefit from £1.2 billion of investment in coastal erosion and sea flooding projects which will better protect over 170,000 properties.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government is investing £2.6 billion (including the additional £76m announced in the last Budgert) between 2015 and 2021, delivering at least 1,500 new flood defence schemes and better protecting 300,000 homes. The six year Capital Investment Programme will provide Flood Defence Grant-in-Aid as shown below for flood and coastal risk management schemes by NUTS 1 regions.</p><p> </p><p>Where appropriate, property level flood protection measures are integrated within flood risk management schemes. Between April and September 2016, the Flood Re Scheme has provided backing to 53,000 policies. Flood Re Scheme has provided backing to 53,000 policies across the UK. Flood Re expect the number of 350,000 UK households.</p><p> </p><p>The distribution of properties backed by Flood Re is decided by the choices of individual insurers, who decide whether a property should be supported by the Scheme, based on the insurers’ assessment of a property’s flood risk. Flood Re expect to provide more detail on the policies backed by the Scheme this summer.</p>
