unstar this property answer text <p>Whilst many of the legal restrictions that the Government has imposed during the pandemic have been lifted at Step 4 of the roadmap, cautious guidance remains. The guidance sets out that the Government expects and recommends that people wear face coverings in crowded areas such as public transport.</p><p> </p><p>The Department continues to publish clear guidance to transport operators on how to provide safer workplaces, including measures that can be taken to assess and address the risks of COVID-19. This includes guidance to operators that they should continue to support workers in high risk groups and discuss any concerns individuals may have around their particular circumstance. The Department will also encourage transport operators to consider the reasonable adjustments needed for staff with disabilities and how these fit with other obligations to workers arising from employment rights and equality legislation.</p> more like this

A revised standard will be available in August attracting £7,000 in apprenticeship levy funding.</p><p> </p><p>The Department for Work and Pensions is developing a scheme to train jobseekers in HGV driving. The Flexible Support Fund is available to help the unemployed or those in receipt of Universal Credit renew their Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).</p><p> </p><p>The Department has provided a grant for the non-profit initiative Road to Logistics to train military service leavers, ex-offenders and the long term unemployed to move into jobs in the logistics sector, including lorry driving.</p> more like this

Currently 72% of train fleets’ operating passenger services meet modern accessibility standards, up from 39% at the start of 2011. The remaining vehicles will be either upgraded or replaced by 1 January 2020.</p><p> </p><p>Further funding for the Access for All programme will be made available from 2019-24 and we are introducing new accessibility commitments through franchising. Refurbishment and renewal work at stations must also conform to modern accessibility standards.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>We are acutely aware of the issues around the time restrictions of the current concessionary travel scheme and are considering next steps as a matter of urgency.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is very pleased to see that some local authorities and operators have already agreed to provide free morning travel to concessionary pass holders due to the COVID-19 outbreak.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, free or discounted travel before 9.30am is the most commonly offered discretionary concession, with 68 of the 89 Travel Concession Authorities in England outside London (predominantly local authorities) already offering free or discounted morning travel to older person’s and/or disabled person’s concessionary pass holders.</p><p> </p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>Under the Network North plan we have announced an uplift in the funding provided for City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements (CRSTS), so that the total CRSTS 2 allocation for South Yorkshire will now be £1.45bn. We have also announced the extension of the £2 bus fare cap from 1 November 2023 until the end of 2024 and billions to fix potholes in our roads, as well as road and rail upgrades and improvements which will improve transport for people across the region.</p> more like this
