star this property answer text <p> </p><p> </p><p>We have a strong evidence base which shows that Help to Work has a positive impact in terms of reducing the number of days claimants spend on benefit.</p><p> </p><p>Over almost two years, claimants who took part in a trailblazer for Community Work Placement (CWP) and Mandatory Intervention Regime (MIR) spent on average 21 (CWP) and 26 (MIR) fewer days on benefits than an equivalent group of JSA claimants.</p><p> </p><p>They also spent more time in work than the control group: 9 days for CWP and 11 days for MIR participants.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government are aware of the problems facing young jobseekers in the labour market and have put in place a substantial menu of provision to help them move into work.</p><p>The Youth Contract provides intensive support for all 18-24 year olds. Extra funding is being made available to support the most vulnerable 16 and 17 year olds not in education, employment or training into learning, an apprenticeship or job with training.</p><p> </p><p>This comprehensive package of support is enhanced by the Flexible Support Fund, which Jobcentre Plus District managers can use to address locally identified skills needs. Also, the Work Programme provides tailored support to those claimants furthest from the labour market.</p><p> </p><p>Additionally, on the 14<sup>th</sup> of November, the Deputy Prime Minister announced that funding of £50m Youth Contract under spend would be made available to cities.</p><p>For the Sheffield City Region they received £5m to offer intensive adviser and mentor-led support for young people alongside a specialist training programme aimed at equipping young people with the right skills to match local employer needs.</p>

star this property answer text <p>The primary purpose of Carer’s Allowance is to provide a measure of financial support for people who give up the opportunity of full-time employment. It was never intended to be a carer's wage nor a payment for the services of caring, and is therefore not comparable with the National Minimum Wage.</p><p> </p><p>The Government recognises that carers play an indispensable role in looking after friends or family members who need support. That is why we have continued to uprate the level of Carer’s Allowance by the Consumer Price Index (CPI).</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p /> <p /> <p>Carer’s Allowance was introduced to provide a measure of financial support for carers who have forgone the opportunity of full-time employment in order to care for a severely disabled person. Carer's Allowance is not a payment for the services of caring, therefore it is payable for the care of only one severely disabled person, even if the carer is looking after two or more people and there are no plans to change this policy.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The primary purpose of Carer’s Allowance is to provide a measure of financial support for people who give up the opportunity of full-time employment in order to provide regular and substantial care for a severely disabled person. It is not, and was never intended to be, a carer’s wage or a payment for the services of caring. It is also not intended to replace lost or forgone earnings in their entirety.</p><p>In addition to Carer’s Allowance, carers on low incomes can claim income-related benefits, such as Income Support and Pension Credit. These benefits can be paid to carers at a higher rate of up to an additional £34.20 a week.</p> more like this
