The contract is with the CEK Joint Venture which is commercially sensitive. HS2 has carried out additional due diligence and sought re-assurance of both Joint Venture partners, Kier and Eiffage, that they remain committed and capable to deliver the contract. We welcome innovative ideas being discussed, such as the campaign “Flying Disabled” that champions wheelchair access to aircraft. The campaign is in early stages, with the industry looking further into the proposal. The Government will follow this work closely.</p><p> </p><p>More widely, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is the national enforcement body for disabled passenger rights legislation in the UK. They work closely with the industry and monitor their performance to ensure the service the passengers receive is of high quality. The progress of HS2 should not come at the expense of proper control over public money and HS2 Ltd fully accepts and understands this.</p><p> </p><p>However, HS2 Ltd have a legal obligation to honour the redundancy payments made to individuals who were employed and so will not be seeking their recovery.
