Any new installation or application for restoration would need to have the support of the local church or cathedral and would be required to submit its proposals for consideration through the usual Church Faculty process to seek permission to alter the fabric of the church or cathedral.</p><p>The Church Buildings Council has produced a free guide, available on the ChurchCare website, to help churches considering commissioning new art, of which memorials would be one type. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/11/2016 answer text <p>In February 2015 the Archbishops of Canterbury and York on behalf of the Church of England signed a commitment to support the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. The Corporate Covenant commits the Church to recognise the need of and care for Armed Forces personnel, veterans and families in their local communities. More information about the commitment to the Corporate Covenant can be found at: <a href="https://www.churchofengland.org/our-views/international-affairs/armed-forces-covenant.aspx" target="_blank">https://www.churchofengland.org/our-views/international-affairs/armed-forces-covenant.aspx</a></p><p>With regards to commemoration the Church of England plays a significant role both nationally and locally during the season of Remembrance. Across the Church most parishes host memorials to local regiments and provide communities space to mark the contribution of the armed forces and uniformed organisations. In Newcastle, the magnificent East End window at St Nicholas Cathedral, Newcastle, is itself a memorial, installed to give thanks for the preservation of the building during the Second World War. In this period of the WWI centenary the Cathedral has worked with the Coldstream Guards to oversee conservation of their Standards, laid up in the cathedral after WWI. The Church is also working closely with local schools and community groups to help young people build understanding the contribution of all those who have served in armed conflict.</p><p>When considering constructing new memorials the Cathedrals Fabric Commission for England and the Church Buildings Council are able to provide advice to churches. The CFCE has recently been involved in the commissioning of a significant new memorial at Hereford Cathedral, designed by John Maine RA, which will be a tribute to former and current soldiers serving in the SAS. Called <em>Ascension</em> the piece involves a new stained glass window and linked stone sculpture to provide a place for reflection and hope, as well as of remembrance. SAS veterans and serving soldiers were closely involved in its creation.</p><p>The Church Buildings Council has produced a free guide, available on the ChurchCare website, to help churches considering commissioning new art, of which memorials would be one type. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/05/2018 answer text <p>The House of Commons Commission is committed to making Parliament a more inclusive place to work and visit. It has taken steps to implement those recommendations of the <em>Good Parliament</em> report within its remit: for example, it formally supported the establishment of the Commons Reference Group on Representation and Inclusion; and a review of the Parliamentary pass regime to address the fact that female Members and staff were disproportionately questioned about their identity and status, reinforcing assumptions about who belongs in Parliament. It has encouraged the House Service to introduce strategies which improve the diversity of its workforce, yielding positive results year-on-year.</p><p>The <em>Good Parliament</em> report also noted that formalising the principles of inclusion and representation in official parliamentary proceedings should positively affect wider cultural change over time. In March 2015, the Procedure Committee published proposed revisions to the Standing Orders which included amendments for gender-neutral language. The proposed revisions have not yet been put before the House.</p><p>The House agreed in February 2018 to introduce a Code of Behaviour for Parliament and a system of training to support it. The draft Code sets out expectations of how we treat each other, whatever our status, background or appearance, and is open for consultation until 30 May. The training that will accompany it is intended to support all passholders to understand these expectations and to speak up when they witness unacceptable behaviour.</p><p>All House of Commons and Digital Service staff are required to undertake Equality and Diversity training which covers equality legislation, types of discrimination, unconscious bias and valuing others. Member activities, with a view to publishing open data for both internal and external re-use and analysis via the new website.</p><p>The Parliamentary Digital Service has increased its expertise in working with data through new recruitment and development of existing staff. New techniques in data science are being investigated, for example machine learning, with support from colleagues in the Government Digital Service. Work is ongoing to ensure that data about Parliamentary activity is available for analysis, to help deliver internal efficiencies and to facilitate research by colleagues, in particular the House of Commons Library. To deliver the value from big data analytics it is critical that the underlying data structure schema are consistent and robust. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/06/2017 answer text <p>The Parliamentary Digital Service currently offers three tablets to Members:</p><ul><li>iPad (128GB; Wi-Fi &amp; Cellular enabled) Case Optional</li><li>iPad (128GB; Wi-Fi enabled) Case Optional</li><li>Android Tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab S2)</li></ul><p>All Members are able to purchase these as part of their agreed hardware allowance, or through the IPSA office costs allowance.</p><p>At the New Members Reception Area the allocation and process were kept the same as at the 2015 General Election, so that Members were offered one laptop and one iPad.</p><p>Our policy is to be device-independent as far as possible when developing new apps.
