Those assessments take account of all income and costs for colleges, including costs relating to VAT and pension liabilities.</p><p>The department estimates that VAT accounts for about 3% of sixth form colleges’ expenditure each year.</p><br /><p>With regards to pension costs, sixth-form colleges may contribute to a number of pension schemes. The SFC financial returns are available online at <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/sfa-financial-management-college-accounts" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/sfa-financial-management-college-accounts</a> and show employer contributions to pensions. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/11/2015 answer text <p>Local authorities have a duty to ensure suitable education is in place for children of compulsory school age who would not otherwise receive it. This includes pupils with medical conditions that prevent them from attending a mainstream school. Where pupils are in-patients in medical facilities, this education would in many cases be provided by the facility itself via an on-site hospital school.</p><br /><p>In all cases, decisions on the education required should be based on an assessment of the pupil’s needs and in consultation with the pupil, parents, medical practitioners and other relevant professionals. Providers and the local authority must ensure that the education a pupil receives is of good quality, allows them to take appropriate qualifications, prevents them from slipping behind their peers in school and allows them to reintegrate successfully back into school as soon as possible. Monitoring and assurance processes should be established to ensure this quality education is in place and in all cases, effective collaboration between all relevant services is essential to delivering effective education for children with additional health needs.</p><br /><p>The Department for Education’s guidance ‘<em>Ensuring a good education for children who cannot attend school because of health needs’</em> sets out the legal duties and responsibilities of the local authority with regards education for such pupils. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 27/03/2018 answer text <p>The Open University (OU) is the largest provider of part-time higher education in England, which is enabling individuals to gain new skills and advance their careers, and supporting the wider economy. In the 2016/17 academic year, it accounted for 27 per cent of all entrants to part-time undergraduate higher education courses in England.</p><p>All higher education providers, including the OU, are autonomous bodies and, as such, their business models and financial plans are a matter for the governing body of that institution. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/05/2018 answer text <p>The Research Councils monitor and publish annually the diversity data of their applicants which has been extended to include data for successfully appointed students since 2015-16. The data is used to track progress and inform policy. With the creation of UKRI, we recognise there is a real opportunity to build on this data collection and we aim to extend this to include a similar dataset for Innovate UK. UKRI has recently launched the recruitment for establishing an external advisory group and will be developing an equality, diversity and inclusion action plan.</p><p> </p><p>The UK Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers 2008 provides a single, unambiguous statement of the expectations and responsibilities of research funders and institutions with respect to the management of researchers/contract research staff. In accordance with this, diversity and equality must be promoted in all aspects of the recruitment and career management of researchers. Vitae leads on its management and implementation, reporting to the Concordat Strategy Group which includes representatives of all the main UK funders and employers of researchers. The Concordat Strategy Group is currently carrying out a ten-year review of the Concordat. The review will be carried out by an independent expert review panel, with a secretariat provided by UKRI and Innovation.
