He met Aung San Suu Kyi and told her clear accountability for those responsible for atrocities was critical. The UK initiated the EU’s new sanctions on seven military commanders and a strengthened arms embargo. The Foreign Secretary told the Foreign Affairs Council we would likely need to take further action in response to the UN Fact Finding Mission report. We are now discussing options for further EU sanctions with member states, including whether to sanction the Commander-in-Chief and his Deputy.</p> more like this

Risk is used and assessed at many places within the immigration system and the risk posed by different countries is determined by looking at the full range of threats to the UK, not just immigration abuse.</p><p>Those countries where such risks may be lower will not usually be subject to our visa regime and will be non-visa nationals. All cases are decided on the individual merits of the application.</p> more like this

It is extendable for 12 months at a time, until September 2019. It is currently extended to September 2017.</p><p>The closure of Dungavel IRC is dependent on the success of the planning application for the new short term holding facility near Glasgow airport, currently under consideration by Renfrewshire Council.</p><p>The Government announced that it intended to close Dungavel when the new short term holding facility is ready, and therefore it is the Government’s policy to reserve its right to continue to use Dungavel for the purposes of immigration detention should the planning application be unsuccessful.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Individuals in France in need of international protection should claim asylum there in line with established EU and international principles. Once asylum has been claimed in France or in any other European country participating in the Dublin Regulation the UK will uphold all obligations to consider requests to take charge of an application on the grounds of family unity. Asylum must be claimed in France to begin this process and we have no plans to change our position on this.</p><p>The UK-France Joint Declaration of 20 August has committed our two governments to establishing a permanent official contact group focused on ensuring that the efficient and effective use of the Dublin Regulation, including the provisions on family unity.</p><p>A senior Home Office official has been seconded to the Interior Ministry’s Dublin Unit in Paris in part to assist with the identification of potential requests for the UK to take charge of asylum seeking children in France and to bring them into the Dublin Regulation procedure without delay.</p>
