<p>In March 2017, Professor Russel Griggs was appointed as the Independent Reviewer of HBOS Reading customer compensation cases by Lloyds Banking Group (LBG), in consultation with the Financial Conduct Authority. His appointment is therefore not a matter for government. The government expects that the appointment of Professor Griggs will help LBG to resolve outstanding cases as soon as possible, so that any victims of fraud at HBOS Reading can be properly compensated.</p>
