star this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to strengthening the voice of the workforce at boardroom level. The Government’s green paper on Corporate Governance Reform sought views on a range of options for achieving this including the creation of stakeholder advisory panels, designating non-executive directors to ensure that the voices of key interested groups, especially that of employees, is being heard at board level, and appointing individual employee or stakeholder representatives to company boards. The Government will publish its response to the green paper consultation in due course.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to ensuring competitive and affordable energy costs for all businesses as well as households. The Committee on Climate Change recently assessed energy costs for all businesses and concluded that energy costs are a small proportion of businesses’ operating costs.</p><p>In their final report on the investigation into the energy markets published in June 2016, the Competition Markets Authority proposed a number of remedies to help microbusinesses access better energy deals. The Government supports the implementation of these measures which have now been implemented by Ofgem. These will improve the transparency of tariffs available to businesses and by making it easier for these businesses to switch suppliers.</p> more like this

Large businesses have, since April this year, been subject to a twice yearly statutory duty to report to Government on their payment practices and performance. star this property answer text <p>The Start Up Loans Scheme was launched in 2012 as a response to Lord Young’s report into small business and enterprise ‘Make Business Your Business’. This is therefore the date from which figures are held.</p><p>I can confirm that since 2012, in the North West, a total of 5,563 start-up loans have been delivered, equalling £35.64m.</p><p>And, in the UK, since 2012, a total of 46,506 loans have been granted, to a sum of £301.37m.</p><p>The attached table shows by year the number and value of start-up loans.</p> more like this
