Since mid-March, all Ukrainians entering the UK with the appropriate visa can travel on public transport, from their port of entry to their end destination, at no cost where travel occurs within 48 hours of arrival. This funding is not ringfenced, which enables local authorities to make spending decisions that more closely match local needs and circumstances. It is important that we consider this analysis in detail and clarify any assumptions made with the Local Government Association before we respond. The Transport Select Committee has asked the Department for a view on the LGA’s analysis and stated that it intends to publish the response.</p><p> </p><p>Funding to local authorities for the concessionary travel scheme in England is not provided in isolation, but as part of their Local Government Finance Settlement.
