star this property answer text <p>We are aware of the recent closure of the Kurdish Women’s Relations Office, also known as REPAK. Our Consulate-General in Erbil raised this issue with the Kurdistan Regional government (KRG) through the Head of Asayish (part of the Kurdish Internal Security Services), General Esmat Argooshi, and the KRG Prime Minister’s Private Secretary.</p><p> </p><p>We have also discussed the matter with the Human Rights Office at the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI). UNAMI have engaged with the Kurdistan Regional government’s Department of Foreign Relations, who said that they would monitor the situation. We are encouraging the Kurdistan Regional Government to respect the legal rights of all legally registered Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and we support UNAMI’s efforts to promote the legal rights of NGOs operating in Iraq.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The US Government regularly lobbies the Government of South Sudan to conduct a thorough investigation into the killing of Christopher Allen in August 2017, and UK officials in Juba remain in close contact with their US counterparts to support these efforts. Mr Allen's family have not contacted UK officials seeking independent action by the UK.</p><p>The Government of South Sudan is responsible for grave human rights violations committed by its own forces, and has failed to meet its obligations to protect its citizens, allowing a culture of impunity to persist. Parties to the conflict deliberately target and kill civilians in the knowledge that their crimes will go unpunished. Journalists and aid workers are also targeted with impunity. The targeting of those like Mr Allen who are reporting on the crisis or delivering aid is barbaric and must cease immediately.</p> more like this

On Monday 19 November, the UK circulated a draft UN Security Resolution. We are discussing with our partners on the Security Council how best to take this forward. We have a window of opportunity in the political process in which to work for the best solution for the people of Yemen and support the efforts of the UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths towards planned talks in Stockholm this week.</p> more like this
