We do not have any evidence to suggest that Yezidi women are being trafficked outside of Iraq and Syria. The latest UN figures estimate, as of September, 16,144 refugee and migrant arrivals in 2018, of which 4000 – 4,400 remain in country. We are concerned by attempts by politicians to politicise the migration issue. The Foreign Secretary was told on his visit to Burma on 10 February that allegations will be investigated and that those found guilty will face punishment in line with Burmese law. We remain, however, concerned that Burmese investigations lack credibility. This increasingly seems to be a case of ethnic cleansing.
