	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/06/2019 answer text <p>The Government is committed to the long-term future of the oil and gas sector which supports over 280,000 jobs and has been one of our great industrial success stories over the past 50 years.</p><p> </p><p>In 2015, the Government established the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA), which works hard to attract investment and jobs, helping to anchor valuable skills and expertise in the UK, and prioritises revitalising offshore exploration.</p><p> </p><p>In recent years, the Government has provided unprecedented levels of support to the offshore oil and gas sector to encourage investment in the sector and support jobs, placing the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) amongst the most competitive fiscal regimes in the world. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/06/2019 answer text <p>We agree that where there are complex delivery and co-ordination challenges, development corporations can be the right vehicles to drive forward high-quality new communities at scale.</p><p>That is why we passed regulations in July 2018 to enable the creation of locally-led New Town Development Corporations, overseen not by the Secretary of State as was previously the case, but by local authorities.In addition, at Autumn Budget 2018, we announced that we would launch a consultation on the legislative framework for development corporations – to ensure they have the powers they need to deliver.
