star this property answer text <p>The aim of the Pupil Premium is to raise the attainment of mainly economically disadvantaged pupils, which is why the funding is focused on those children who have been on free school meals at some point in the last six years.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>There are no plans to extend the Pupil Premium to children who are educated at home. The Government respects the right of parents to choose how their children are educated, whether this is at home or in any of the institutions available to them. However, parents who choose to home educate their children must take responsibility for costs. Local authorities have the power to give assistance to parents who home school if they so choose.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>There are no plans to extend the Pupil Premium to children who are educated at home, or to children with either foetal alcohol spectrum disorder or other special needs. The aim of the Pupil Premium is to help schools close the attainment gap, with funding focused on those children who have been on free school meals at some point in the last six years.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government respects the right of parents to choose how their children are educated, whether this is at home or in any of the institutions available to them. However, parents who choose to home educate their children must take responsibility for the costs.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Local authorities have the power to choose to give assistance to parents who home school. This can include providing support to children with special educational needs, whether or not they have a statement or Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan. The 0-25 SEND Code of Practice makes it clear that local authorities should work with parents and consider whether to provide support in the home to help the parents make suitable provision. Where an authority draws up a statement or EHC plan which ‘names’ home education as the right provision for the child then they must make any additional special educational provision set out by the statement or plan.</p>

star this property answer text <p>Based on previous cohorts the Department for Education expects to receive approximately 500 eligible applications. Candidates must then go through a rigorous selection and assessment process, including a school-based interview and must also meet the appropriate initial teacher training eligibility criteria before they are accepted onto the programme. The Department anticipates that up to 100 trainees will begin their training in September 2015 and up to 100 trainees in September 2016.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>There are currently have 84 trainees completing their training.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The government is committed to this important industrial sector and to maximise the economic benefits of our oil and gas resources in accordance with Sir Ian Woods recommendations in his final report on maximising recovery on the UK Continental Shelf.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>With between 11 and 21 billion barrels of oil equivalent still to be exploited, the UK Continental Shelf can continue to provide considerable economic benefits to the UK through increased energy security and further development of the UK’s strong and export-focussed supply chain, as well as the jobs which the industry both provides and supports.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We understand the challenges currently facing the UK oil and gas industry following the steep fall in oil prices and are following developments in the North Sea closely.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We have been proactive in our response to the weakening oil price. In December, the government announced an ambitious programme of reform across the oil and gas tax regime, including the introduction of a new single investment allowance to support investment on the UKCS and an immediate cut to the rate of the Supplementary Charge, which is already in effect.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Investment Allowance was identified by the industry as their number one priority and would incentivise drilling work, a formal consultation on this measure is underway.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Although these fiscal measures will encourage activity and protect jobs, our response has not been limited to the use of the tax system. The Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, the Rt Hon Edward Davey MP, has tasked Andy Samuel, the CEO of the newly formed OGA, to lead an urgent commission, working with industry to identify what further measures might be taken by the government and industry. The report outlining the conclusions of this work shall be presented by the end of February.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Additionally, the BIS led joint oil and gas Industrial Strategy outlines key considerations regarding training and maintaining talent within the industry, to sustain and promote growth within the supply chain.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>The government understands the challenges currently facing the UK oil and gas industry and is following developments in the North Sea closely.</p><p> </p><p>The Investment Allowance rewards companies investing in the long-term future of the basin – at all stages of the investment life cycle – and we would expect it to significantly reduce the effective tax rate for companies investing in the UK Continental Shelf.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Work on the design of the new Investment Allowance has been progressing rapidly since December - the government published a consultation document on its proposals on 22 January.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The government recognises the importance of the industry to local economies and as an employer. The report published by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, in partnership with Oil and Gas UK and OPITO (the Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation) in December, “Fuelling the next generation: A study of the UK upstream oil and gas workforce” highlighted both the sector’s current contribution to employment and its future potential. The government will continue to work closely with industry through the Oil and Gas Industry Council and with the newly-formed Scottish Energy Jobs Taskforce to support jobs in the sector, develop the industry’s skills base and make sure this potential is realised.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>The government recognises the importance of the UK oil and gas industry and its contribution to energy security and the UK economy. We are committed to the future of the industry and creating the right conditions to maximise economic recovery.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>At Autumn Statement, the government published a radical plan for the future of the oil and gas fiscal regime and set out a package of measures, including the reduction in the rate of the Supplementary Charge, to tackle the fiscal challenges and ensure the UKCS continues to attract investment, simplify the current system, and remove barriers at all stages of the production life cycle. The package is expected to drive around £7bn of additional investment and 350m barrels of oil equivalent production.</p><p> </p> more like this
