star this property answer text <p>The Serious Violence Strategy represents a step change in the way we think and respond to violence, including gangs. The strategy sets out the key risk factors which may mean a young person may have a greater propensity to get involved in crime than would otherwise be the case such as school absence and peer pressure.</p><p>The strategy also outlines the importance of early intervention to tackle criminal involvement by young people and the importance of providing positive activities to help them lead productive lives free from crime. We are also supporting work to build local resilience and awareness by match funding local area reviews, which help local areas to respond to gang-related threats.</p> more like this

We value their work, and we want to ensure that they can continue to make an important contribution. Ministers in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and officials at the Food Standards Agency have been talking to representatives of the profession to ensure that those who do such an essential job continue to feel valued and to play the important role they do in assuring the public of the very high standards of food hygiene.</p><p> </p><p>The Food Standards Agency are working on a number of contingencies to ensure that we maintain the excellent standards of food safety that the UK currently enjoys, and maintain an effective workforce.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>NHS England is responsible for commissioning the primary care National Health Service sight testing service. Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) are responsible for commissioning secondary care ophthalmic services. CCGs are also able to commission eye care services in the community which go beyond the standard NHS sight test, where they judge them to be needed in their areas.</p><p> </p><p>CCGs are required, for all services they commission, to assess the health needs of their local population and are held locally to account to the population they serve through the health and wellbeing boards. In taking any decision about the health of the local population, the CCG has to ensure that services meet the needs of the local population.</p> more like this

PHE funds HIV Prevention England, a consortium led by the Terrence Higgins Trust, to undertake national HIV prevention campaigns which aim to promote a variety of prevention approaches including combatting HIV stigma and discrimination, increasing condom use and access to HIV testing and raising awareness of treatment options that prevent either acquisition or transmission of infection.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Department is not directly responsible for developing or reviewing clinical guidance for identification and management of diseases and disorders. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence was established by the Government to develop evidence based best practice for the National Health Service. Other organisations, such as the clinical Royal Colleges, and charitable organisations also convene expert groups to develop guidance for health professionals.</p><p> </p><p>A range of support exists to help general practitioners (GPs) identify and manage fibromyalgia in primary care. This includes an e-learning course developed by the Royal College of GPs and Arthritis Research UK on musculoskeletal care, including fibromyalgia, and a medical guide developed by the Fibromyalgia Association UK (FMUK) for health professionals.</p><p> </p><p>People with fibromyalgia can usually be managed through routine access to primary or second care provide via a GP or consultant. Treatment will depend on the severity of a patient’s condition, but may include pain relieving medication; physiotherapy; dietary and exercise advice; counselling or cognitive behavioural therapy. For patients whose pain cannot be adequately controlled by routine access to NHS services, a referral may be made to a specialist pain service or specialist fibromyalgia clinic, such the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath, subject to their having met certain criteria.</p><p> </p><p>Information for the public can be found on the NHS website and is also available in a patient’s information guide produced by FMUK. star this property answer text <p>At the request of the Department for Transport, the Law Commission undertook a comprehensive review of taxi and private hire regulation in England and Wales.</p><p> </p><p>Since this report the sector has undergone profound and rapid change. At a Westminster Hall Debate on 5 July I announced the formation of a working group to consider any regulatory issues and remedies, including the Commission’s recommendations.
