star this property answer text
The Government is committed to supporting all victims of domestic abuse.

My Department does not hold information on the availability of refuges for victims of domestic abuse in (a) Lewisham Borough and (b) London. However, I am pleased to confirm that London Borough of Lewisham were successful in their bid for both the 2016-18 £20 million and the 2018-20 £22 million funds, partnering with the service provider Refuge and building upon their refuge provision and improving support for victims of domestic abuse with complex needs.

Through the 2016-18 fund London Borough of Lewisham was awarded £114,224 over the two years, including receiving a share of the £1.1 million top up funding. In the current 2018-20 fund London Borough of Lewisham has been awarded £90,075, with the first instalment being released December 2018 and the remaining to be released in the 2019/20 financial year. London Borough of Lewisham were among 19 successful projects submitted by London Boroughs securing a total investment of £5,764,849.

My Department has also carried out a review of how domestic abuse services are locally commissioned and funded across England. We have worked closely with sector partners, drawing on their data, expertise and knowledge. Following the review, we intend to consult on potential measures for sustainable delivery of support for victims and their children in accommodation-based services for domestic abuse across England shortly.

star this property answer text
The £3.37 million MHCLG Community Fund programme has supported 54 local authorities and community group partnerships to shape and deliver improved services. Six grants are linked to social prescribing, of which three directly target vulnerable children and young people. For example, the ‘Community Connectors’ project in South Norfolk was awarded £70,000 to deliver social prescribing from all GP surgeries across South Norfolk providing a non-medical solution to social, emotional and practical issues that may be causing health problems for people of all ages.

The Department has also contributed towards the £3.5 million jointly invested by the Government and the Co-op Foundation in projects tackling youth loneliness through the Youth Strand of the Building Connections Fund in 2018-19 and 2019-20.

My Department will continue to work with other government departments to deliver the commitments in 'A Connected Society: A Strategy for Tackling Loneliness’ and to build the infrastructure for social prescribing.
