answer text <p>The UK regularly raises the issue of water in the Occupied Palestinian Territories with the Israeli authorities, most recently on 8 September. We continue to stress the urgent need for Israel to take immediate and practical measures to improve the current situation and ensure fair distribution of water in the West Bank and Gaza.</p><p>We encourage both parties to find a swift resolution to this issue and to reconvene the Joint Water Committee to facilitate approval of projects that will improve Palestinian access to water. We see continuity of supply to the West Bank as essential for both the basic needs of Palestinians and for stability and security more widely.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs assessed in November 2015 that 400,000 people in the West Bank required humanitarian water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) assistance. UK officials are in regular dialogue with Israel, the Palestinian Authority, the UN, World Bank, EU and other development actors on this issue.</p><p>DFID is funding UNICEF to lead on developing and updating the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPTs) WASH Sector Contingency Plan at the national level. This brings together the Palestinian Water Authority and other partners to monitor the water situation in the OPTs and ensure preparedness and effective response in case of an emergency.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The UK Government is extremely concerned about the situation in Venezuela, with the UN estimating that over four million people are suffering from malnourishment. As the situation has deteriorated, over three million Venezuelans have fled to neighbouring countries.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>We will be providing a package of £6.5 million in aid to respond to the most severe health and nutrition needs in Venezuela and the region. DFID staff have been deployed in the region since last year and this package builds on our core support to the UN and Red Cross, operating since the early stages of the crisis. The UK Government continues to call for all actors to allow unhindered access for humanitarian assistance to meet the urgent needs of the Venezuelan people.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>As noted in the Answer of 13 April 2013 to Question 151281, DFID funded two assessments on glacial melt in the Himalayan region. It has since piloted a method of assessing glaciers in the region using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). The studies indicate that the Himalayan glaciers have been shrinking overall at 0.4-0.5% per year since the 1950s.
