star this property answer text <p /> <p>The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills will deliver £450 million of the Chancellor’s announced £4.5 billion savings announced on the 4th June. The majority of this will be delivered through known underspends and releasing unallocated funding.</p><p> </p><p>Officials in the department are working with the appropriate funding bodies to determine how savings can best be achieved in line with Ministerial priorities.</p><p> </p><p>Priority areas for growth and productivity, including funding for apprenticeships and science, will not be affected – raising the skill level of the workforce and developing new ideas are fundamental drivers of long-run productivity growth.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p /> <p>The savings for 2015-16 announced on 4 June 2015 are being achieved through further efficiency savings, tighter control of budgets to drive underspends in year, and driving through asset sales.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>As part of the £4.5 billion in-year savings announced by the Chancellor, the Department for Work and Pensions committed to delivering £105m from its £6.7bn budget in 2015-16, of which £75m is from efficiency savings. Departmental productivity is regularly assessed and is published in the Annual Report and Accounts.</p><p> </p><p>The government is getting on with the job of repairing the public finances, and to run a surplus in this Parliament. This will create the best conditions for sustainable growth.</p> more like this

Data for later periods will be contained in the next publication of the data on total numbers of the judiciary and their background.</p><p> </p><p>For the period April 2013–December 2013 panel members sat in the First-tier Tribunal Tax Chamber for a total of 964.50 days. Members do not sit on Tax cases in the Upper Tribunal.</p><p><em>This figure is taken from internal Management Information and as such has not been quality checked to the same level as official statistics.</em></p><p> </p><p>In the financial year 2013/14, judicial expenditure for all fee-paid judicial Office holders within the Tax jurisdiction was £1.8 million.</p><p><em>This figure is still subject to internal audit processes and will be incorporated into overall Judicial spend figures in the HMCTS Annual report and Accounts which will be published later this year. </em></p>

star this property answer text <p>Across government, the savings for 2015-16 announced on 4 June 2015 are being achieved through further efficiency savings, tighter control of budgets to drive underspends in year, and driving through asset sales.</p><p>There are three areas where DECC will make savings:</p><ul><li>£10M will be realised by driving out underspends from existing contracts, for example because inflation is now lower than when costs were forecast.</li><li>£20M will be found through underspends in the Department’s arms-length bodies (ALBs).</li><li>£40M will be saved from our programme of energy-efficiency subsidy while we consider the right long-term framework for the home-energy-efficiency market.</li></ul><p>The government is getting on with the job of repairing the public finances, and to run a surplus in this Parliament. This will create the best conditions for sustainable growth.</p> more like this

Those responses set out what has or will be done to address issues identified by Boards. I wrote to the Chair of the Birmingham Board on 28 November 2016 in response to the concerns raised in their report.</p><p> </p><p>The long-standing challenges in our prison estate cannot be fixed overnight but the Justice Secretary and I are absolutely committed to making prisons places of safety and reform. We already embarking on a major recruitment drive to boost the frontline with 2,500 extra prison officers and are putting in place new security measures to tackle drones, phones and drugs, which undermine safety.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>An impact assessment was conducted and is summarised at page 16 of the Autumn Statement 2012 policy costings document<sup><sup>[1]</sup></sup>under the heading of ‘Tax repatriation from Switzerland’.</p><p> </p><p>A further impact assessment was included at page A221 of the overview of draft legislation<sup><sup>[2]</sup></sup> in respect of Finance Bill 2013 published on 11 December 2012.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Progress against forecast, revised in accordance with standard review procedures once the agreement became operational, was considered in the National Audit Office report ‘Increasing the effectiveness of tax collection’<sup><sup>[3]</sup></sup> published on 6 February 2015.
