star this property answer text <p>We remain concerned about the use of a dual court system whereby Palestinians, except East Jerusalem residents, are subject to the Israeli military court system, irrespective of the charge, whereas Israeli citizens are dealt with by the Israeli civil justice system. We are clear that Israel has legal obligations as an Occupying Power with respect to the Occupied Palestinian Territories under applicable international law. We regularly discuss with the Government of Israel implementation of those obligations and raise our serious concerns regarding such issues as the treatment of Palestinian children detained in Israeli prisons.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We regularly raise our concerns about Pakistan’s blasphemy laws and the need for reform, as well as concerns about specific cases where individuals have been accused of blasphemy. In February 2015 I raised UK concerns about blasphemy laws with a group of visiting Pakistani Parliamentarians. The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, my right hon. Friend the Member for Runnymede and Weybridge (Mr Hammond), discussed Pakistan’s blasphemy laws with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in November 2014.</p><p>In December 2014 my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister the member for Witney (Mr Cameron) also stressed our concerns about Pakistan’s blasphemy law with Prime Minister Sharif. We will ensure that this issue continues to be raised at the highest levels in Pakistan.</p> more like this

We are aware of a range of concerns about teaching in madrassahs and other settings, usually reported by local authorities and schools.</p><p> </p><p>To build our evidence base about out-of-school education settings, we launched a call for evidence and asked for information about any concerns in relation to safeguarding, extremism, physical punishment or the suitability of premises. This generated a large number of responses which are being analysed and we will be publishing our response in due course.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We continue to stress the importance of respect for human rights and the rule of law to the Government of Bangladesh, both in public and in private. I urged the Bangladeshi High Commissioner to ensure that his government adhered to its human rights obligations when we met on 29 November 2016. As I said in my closing speech to the House of Commons adjournment debate on 8 September 2016, mass arrests, suspicious 'crossfire' deaths, and enforced disappearances at the hands of the police undermine confidence in the judicial system. Investigations must be conducted transparently and impartially, irrespective of either victim of alleged perpetrator.</p><p>Mr Ahmad Bin Quasem is not a British citizen; we are therefore unable to request consular access.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We are supporting and encouraging the Metals Sector, through the Metals Forum (an umbrella group of Trade Associations), on the development of a Metals Strategy; this will bring Metals into line with other important Foundation Industries such as Electronics and Chemicals which have already published strategies. This is expected to be published by the Metals Sector next spring.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Steel industry is strong in the UK, having achieved 23% growth in output since 2010[1], and has a sustainable long term future. High technology industries such as aerospace, automotive and construction all require high value, continually improving steel products in order to remain competitive.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Government works closely with the steel industry on a range of issues related to maintaining an internationally competitive steel sector in the UK. star this property answer text <p>Under Cabinet Office protocols for managing staff surpluses, all HMRC staff leaving under compulsory redundancy (CR) terms have first been offered and declined voluntary redundancy (VR) terms. To date this has ensured that all staff who have left HMRC on CR terms have chosen to take compulsory redundancy, either because accepting CR over VR terms has not financially disadvantaged them, or they have declined a reasonable alternative redeployment solution in favour of CR terms.</p><p> </p><p>The redundancies and the voluntary exits have had no effect on the level of service provided by HMRC.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The information required can be found in the exit data, which is published every year in the departmental accounts.</p> more like this

They were both entirely new businesses. No studio colleges created from a pre-existing education institution were closed by the Department in the first year.</p><p>No academies which were entirely new businesses were closed by the Department in the first year.
