Based on the current evidence on the safety of caffeine, the Food Standard Agency advises that children, or other people sensitive to caffeine, should consume caffeine only in moderation.</p><p> </p><p>In its review of the evidence on “Carbohydrates and Health” (2015), the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN) concluded that the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages, as compared with non-calorically sweetened beverages, results in greater weight gain and increases in body mass index. Consuming too many sugary drinks can also cause tooth decay. Since 2015, we have introduced the care certificate which all healthcare assistants and care support workers are expected to achieve before working unsupervised. The care certificate covers 15 standards setting out a common set of skills, knowledge and behaviours that are needed in order to provide safe, high quality and compassionate care.</p><p> </p><p>The Government is committed to a proportionate system of safeguards for the professionals who work in the health and care system. We are very clear that statutory professional regulation should only be used in cases where the risks to the public cannot be mitigated in other ways. These are for early intervention in psychosis, urgent and emergency liaison mental health services, services for children and young people with eating disorders, Improving Access to Psychological Therapies pathway for long term conditions, and the perinatal mental health pathway.</p><p> </p><p>Two more pathways, those focusing on crisis and acute mental health, and children and young people’s mental health care, are under development.</p><p> </p><p>The remaining pathways are being reviewed to ensure they align with the new commitments and direction set out in the NHS Long Term Plan. NHS England has not confirmed the date of publication for these remaining pathways.</p><p> </p><p>The NHS Long Term Plan has committed to specific waiting times targets for emergency mental health services which will take effect for the first time from 2020, and will be set to align with the equivalent targets for emergency physical health services. Neurologists and transplant doctors in the United Kingdom are guided by the recommendations of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation, published in 2012, and the guidance of the British Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation when considering the suitability of transplant. These criteria restrict the use of autologous HSCT to a small group of MS patients with high levels of inflammatory activity despite one or more approved disease modifying therapies and very rare patients with 'malignant' forms of MS.
