unstar this property answer text <p>We want our prisons to be places of safety and reform, and so it is right that offenders who break prison rules are properly punished. Where this amounts to a criminal offence, prisoners should expect to be investigated by the police and face more serious sanctions.</p><p>We are committed to improving safety across the prison estate and are already taking action. This includes tackling the use of drugs, mobile phones and drones, while recruiting new staff and improving protection for staff.</p><p>Information on the number of additional days awarded to prisoners as a result of adjudications for assaults against staff and prisoners in each of the last five years can be found in the attached table.</p> more like this

unstar this property answer text <p>The scheme referred to is at paragraph 3.45 of the Autumn Statement 2016. It is run by the England Illegal Money Lending Team, which has responsibility for taking action against loan sharks.</p><p> </p><p>The Team prosecutes loan sharks under s23 Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, which provides that it is an offence for any person to carry on a regulated activity without permission (the relevant regulated activity being Article 60B of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Regulated Activities) Order 2001 (entering into regulated credit agreements)). Additionally, the Team prosecute offences under s327 and s329 Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.</p><p> </p><p>Funds are recovered from convicted loan sharks by confiscation orders under Part 2 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.</p> more like this

We are determined to make prisons work, so that offenders come out of prison better able to find work and support their families, and less likely to reoffend.</p><p>Those serving sentences of under 12 months in custody have access to education; work; offending behaviour programmes; health services, including help with drugs or alcohol problems; and resettlement support in custody and into the community. Our reforms to probation services mean that, for the first time in recent history, they also receive statutory support and supervision on release.</p> more like this
