Triable either-way cases are now sent rather than committed. </em></p><p> </p><p>Performance, demand and waiting times in the courts are constantly reviewed to balance sitting days with waiting times, disposals and receipts. Resources are adjusted when required. Demand has been falling in recent years and sitting days have been reduced accordingly to ensure the backlog of work remains relatively stable. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/07/2019 answer text <p>The Home Office does not centrally hold the information requested.</p><p>From April 2017 the Home Office requested information on a voluntary basis from police forces on the number of individuals released on pre-charge bail following arrest, broken down by bail length.</p><p>Data received from 17 police forces has been published within the ‘Police powers and procedures, England and Wales’ statistical bulletin, for the 2017/18 financial year. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/07/2019 answer text <p>Last year Crown Court trial waiting times were at their lowest since 2014, with this year’s allocation of sitting days reflecting this.</p><p> </p><p>We estimate that we need around 82,300 sitting days in the Crown Court in England and Wales in the financial year 2019/20 and have the judges needed to deliver this level of sitting.</p><p> </p><p>This estimate is based on how much resource is required to deal with the number of cases expected to be received in 2019/20 and reflects falling demand in the Crown Court. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/07/2019 answer text <p>The decision to close Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court was not taken lightly and followed a public consultation that concluded the local community will have reasonable access to alternative courts.</p><p> </p><p>Hearings for those under the age of 18 have already been relocated to Bromley Magistrates’ Court and plans are being finalised to transfer the remaining workload to Croydon Magistrates’ Court and Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court.</p><p> </p><p>Building works to provide additional court capacity are due to take place at Croydon later this year.
